    Kroxigors, are they worth it?

    Id like to get some feedback on Kroxigors.
    Does anyone used them?
    How do you take them? Skinks? Any specific support?
    Why do you take them? What role do they perform that you cant get out of your lovely Saurus?

    They have a mediocre stat line at best, they can't take a lot of hits, meaning they'd most likely lose number's fairly fast from shooting/magic as a 4+ armor save won't get them far.

    They might have some use, but not much, and really there are better options in our book.

    Try them out if you want to, they might work for you.

    Compare:

    6 Kroxigors (3x2). 18 S6 attacks. 18 wounds. 3 Stomp attacks. 330 points.
    18 Saurus (6x3). 18 S4 attacks. 18 wounds. An extra rank. 60% the cost of the Krox
    Ancient Steg. ~9 S6 hits on the charge (same as Krox). 6 wounds but at high Toughness. 83% the cost of the Krox.

    If they cost 50 points and had S7, T5, 3+ scaly skin or swiftstride Kroxigors would be an interesting 3rd option. ATM they aren't good enough and cost to much

    I have tried them with and without skinks and I've found them to be decidedly underwhelming as a monstrous infantry option.

    I'm a complete noob at fantasy, but I have started playing a little bit and and as I have quite a small army at the moment I have to use my Kroxigors to get the points up. I do like them however, they're far from a powerhouse but they are fast and easy to get a flank with. I haven't really had any trouble keeping them alive from shooting or magic, they don't tend to be a high priority.

    BTW, can anyone tell my the reason skinks or units with both skinks and kroxigors are immune to the stomp rule?

    Well skinks aren't immune to stomp, but the mixed unit is because it is classed as unique. You can only stomp infantry, cavalry, and swarms. Unique isn't in that list.

    Ya know there are some good arguments against these poor lizards but I've used them in the last few games I played and have grown to like them... for specific purposes, and ONLY the mixed unit of skinks and kroxigors.

    First, their move is 6 which doesn't suck. Granted its not fly but 2 inches over the saurus.

    Second, I've found them quite handy at stopping enemy cavalry from crushing my flank of saurus or temple guard. In my experiences they have never lost a close combat against enemy cav. Lil skinks soak up all the wounds while the kroxi are free to bash through.

    This may be more points than your willing to spend but giving the unit a bsb and armor piercing banner can be devastating. Now the kroxigors give -4 to the enemies armor save, making a nasty 1+ armor save from chaos knights for example become a lil 5+.
