Hi ppl long time no see,i have come out of my warhammer retirement and want to star tsomething new !.
I am realy considering lizardmen but know nothing about them, what i want to know is why should i collect them, how versatile are they,do u use orc type tactics with the all out charge or are there some tactics about it ?. Also good pait schemes i have seen alot but want something different,i was going to go with pink :p but i know i have seen that paint cheme somewhere  .
So for all you lizie ppl out there tell me why i should collect them.
Well for starters they've got the best all round magic capability in the form of the Slann.
They have some of the toughest combat troops in the game (Saurus, Temple Guard, Kroxigor, Cold One Riders and Stegadons).
Excellent skirmishing units like the incredibly annoying Skinks, jungle swarms and the fast and nearly uncatchable Terradons.
They have a limited amount of shooting, with the Salamanders, the skinks and Stegadon's giant bow.
And they have lots of excellent magic items!

All the above plus the coolest looking models in the game IMHO!Originally Posted by Tzeentch_Lord
That was a big deal for me when I started collecting them.
Plus they have a really great background story.

Thax for the feed back i always though chaos had the bes t magic and toughest troops but u learnm sometyhing new every day,and as for the cooolest trrops i have to agree with u there.
Fact is that the we have the cheapes high quality magic in the game. Tzeentch and the elves contest us on quality, but we get it cheaper.
IMO Saurus are the best foot troops in the game. Maybe they're not as tough and strong as Chaos Warriors, but we're cheaper. And we look "cooler".
Skinks are Terradons are real menaces. Disrupting and distracting. Don't waste Skinks as dirt cheap cannon fodder. Though sometimes it's the Will of the Old Ones that they are.
And our monsters are fast, hardhitting and awesome looking. Allways fun to have them.
Saurus characters are badasses. While most races only get A4 with lord-level characters, our hero-level character already has it. They are my pride.
The only thing the lizzies lack is IMO common heavy cavalry. We do have Cold One Cavalry, but they're slower, though hit harder. The real downside is their huge point cost and the fact that they're fragile vs missile fire with their low armour save. Our monsters can do the job too, but mostly they're alone or only a couple of them.
WOW nice feed back
,i though tzeentch had stronger magic but cheap is always very good , but i have alyas been impresed by a magic move by izardmen slan mage (dont know the name of it) and that is meteor strike i think its called,i seen it own near enough a full squad of chaso knights it was soo cool.
I never thought of skinks as cannon fooder but more flanking units with the blow pipes along with the flying units.
Lizardmen are one of the most versatile armies in the game; they can do just about anything superbly except shooting, and even that can be accomplished with a little tact. They can be a small, incredibly hard hitting army or one of the most annoying hordes. As stated, the only true holes in the list are common warmachines and cavalry, though if you study the list you find that they really aren't needed.
Skinks are IMO the greatest things ever: they are cheap, fast, amphibeous skirmishers that have poisoned shooting and the ability to scout. This means that they are incredibly flexable in the movement phase, have 360 degree LoS, are not seriously threatened by most war machines, ignore passable terrain, can take down tough beasts, can prevent opponent march moves, and seriously mess up your opponents plans by getting stuck in extended combats with units that could otherwise be a serious threat to your army as a whole (eg archers, lone characters, especially mages, cavalry and other fast units, the list goes on...). They can also, if need be, take arrows for your slower, much more expensive saurus. Use in combination with kroxigors opens up a whole new world of opportunity, as kroxigors can charge throuh units of skinks.
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely...
but it rocks absolutely, too!
lol skinks sound like the best units in the game ,i think i might just have an army of them ^_^.
Skinks are good, but not that good. If they get charged by anything remotely good in combat (particularly cavalry) they're dead meat. They are worse than goblins in combat and being skirmishers, they won't get ranks or standards (though they might be lucky and get outnumbering). If you have an army of them you'll have so many skinks on the table, as soon as the enemy hits home and starts taking out the first units of skinks, they'll just keep overrunning into more skink units. Plus, your general can't be everywhere and when some serious shooting starts taking chunks out of your skinks, they'll quickly begin to leg it off the table in panic.
Skinks are support troops for your main combat units, not replacements for them (unless it's a Southlands army, but they have special rules).

dont see how they are worse than goblins in combat. I mean point for point yes, but they have one less toughness but one more toughness, higher initiative and move a lot faster.
Having a sneaky squad of skinks are amazing tactically. I played against my friends ogres, first turn I moved right up next to one of his 3 bull ogre packs, killed two and wounded the other, they retreated and never regrouped. His turn he paniced so bad and turned most of his guys on that flank to try and catch them. Not only was he unsuccessful at that, they only cost 84 points for the unit of 12 with blowpipes. While he was doing that my saurus, kroxies and sallies marched up the front and slapped the fatties on the butts if you know what I mean.
