Alright, I was browsing the GW-UK site and saw these beautiul models on sale already. I have two questions about 'em:
1) Are they any good? No idea where the rules for DoW units are, so I wouldn't know. Without seeing rules, I'd imagine them as a cheap alternative to Saurus cav for a LM army, maybe even fast cav - and probably with poisoned weapons!
2) Can they be purchased from GW-US? I was only browsing the UK site because they tend to be more complete than the US site. If I could do this without paying through my nose for cross-Atlantic shipping, it would rock...
well, for Q1: they are basically the old skool skink riders, so fast cav, and slightly improved skink stats i think. they aren't bad, but i thought that saurus cav is more hitty. so, really, the only real thing going for them is Tichi Huichi himself and fast cav rules. if i'm not mistaken, they're about the same price as a saurus cav unit too.
as for shipping, i wouldn't know. prolly not, knowing hwo useless much of GW's shipping is.
They have a special rule so that noone can ever persue them out of combat too.
I asked the same questions on another forum I frequent, and this was the reply I got in regards to their usefulness:Is this true? If so, they seem essentially like a slower & more fragile unit of Terradons - and not very useful in a LM army.As for their game performance, they are horrible. They have toughness two and cost an awful lot of points - this makes them an easy target for just about anything. If they get charged, they are dead. If they get shot with anything, they are dead.
EDIT: and I just discovered that a 6-model Tichi Huichi unit costs more than a 6-model Saurus Cav unit.
