Hi guys, I've started my first batch of Saurus and i'am already fed-up of the standard-ish blue colour scheme of the Saurus. I'd like some of your ideas for colour schemes and test them out on a few models to see what i think is most visible captivating.
I had the idea of painting skinks in the same colours as you'd find Poison Arrow Frogs, bright vibrant colours as a clear and visible presentation of thier "poisonous" abilities.
Personal favourite for "different" colour schemes. Flip through books on whatever your species resembles. I play 'Nids, I look through insect books.

I paint my skinks blue from the 5th edition colour scheme.
Kroxigors are blue.
Slaan are green.
I am toying with several differetn ideas for my saurus.
(the 5th editon colour sceme was like snot green with dark angles green scales and stuff.....)
I like my idea of mainly orange with black "underscales" and my idea of a scab red with various other colours.

My whole army is snot green, dark angels green crevices and light green/yellowish highlights.
Then I have enchanted blue scales which have each been outlined with enchanted blue mixed with white.
So basically I took the 5th edition colours as a starting point and went from there.
Is there anywhere I can see the fifth Ed colour schemes? I'm new to Fantasy Battle and only have the latest edition army list book. Is that the old colour scheme they have in the colour parts of the rule book?
Look at the color scheme for Salamanders in the current LM codex. My Saurus look like that, except instead of Chaos Black scales they use DA Green with Snot Green highlights. Skin is still Blazing Orange with Fiery Orange drybrushed over it. Eyes are a generic yellow, claws/spines are Bleached Bone, and metal is Shining Gold over Bestial Brown. Black primer coat on everything, as well. Skinks are mostly the orange colors, with a little green on the back & crest. Kroxigors are mostly the green, fading into black along the spine and *just* barely touching orange on the stomach. Unit champions have a tiger-striped pattern of dark green wedges running down their sides - the older they are, the darker the stripe (so Oldbloods have almost black stripes, and black spines amongst the green scales).
I like my Lizzies in Rotting Flesh, with Camo Green scales. Looks neat and very realistic. If you combine it with shields in dark red colors you get a good contrast. Eyes are red gore and most ornaments are in Bubonic Brown/Bleached Bone highlights instead of the usual gold.
I like your idea of bright colors for the Skinks. I might try some bright yellow of black stripe over the middle of their head or sth. Skinks in warpaint. Tribal Skinks, would be wonderful in a Southlands lists.
