Welcome to Librarium Online!
G'day my fine lords and ladies; I hereby present this thread to you all for use in the fighting against Lizardmen. This is to be used in whatever way you all seem fit but the idea I have behind this is...
A tactica type thing. All generals are welcome to post here any tips, tactics, unit break downs, do and don't of the armies and all list break downs (note - not army lists but maybe a skeleton list used to build off etc)
Well that's the idea, I hope it works. I will be watching these and any abuse of thread or things I decide that are not to be in here will be deleted without warning.

Well..... it is alot easier giving tactics to new lizardmen players than giving tactics against them but.....
Well.... i'll give it a shot..... but be warned in advance, it won't be very good......
In my experiece, what really kills my lizards en masse is really shooting of any kind, esspecailly artillery or those blasted skaven guns.
A wood elf army once had fun with my lizards for a while (before I squashed him) with his archers and waywatchers taking potshots at my guys and retreating from all my charges such tactics that wood elves are known to use.
Ratling guns chew through skinks, terradons, saurus, cold one riders...really most things and their a pain and then the jezzails and warp lightning rip through stegadons and other high toughness things.
Mortars can wipe out entire regiments... argghhhh how I hate them, cannons and all the dwarven guns work miracles against the lizards whose only realy shooting comes form the salamanders who don't work very well against high armour and toughness armies like dwarves or chaos.
If you play a close combat army like chaos or maybe bretonnia you probably won't outnumber anyone but saurus are pretty expensive themselves too, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT let any kroxigors get anywear near you knights or other high armour things, they will make a mockery of those units. Saurus cavalry, I can tell you, are exactly as hard to kill as a standard dwarf warrior in close combat, if you charge these guys as opposed to being charged they should be no problem wiping them out as they are very expensive (think grail knights) and ther shouldn't be that many of them.
Always try to get the charge (shouldn't be too hard against saurus) because you'll have less attacks comng back at you.
I've been pretty lucky with my battles so far and still havn't suffered a loss so I'm not that familiar with lizarmen's weaknesses, only that saurus are expensive and artillery hurts so my knowledge is very limited and your probably bett off listening to someone else.

If Saurus Cavalry are charged they have a 2+ Armour Save, as anyone sensible will use a HW+Shield instead of Spear. So they are a bit harder than Dwarf Warriors.
Keep SC the hell away from your big 4+ armour save troops, as they'll only get a 6+ As, be hit on probably threes, and wounded on probably twos. Oh yeah, and he'll have 15 attacks with a 5x1 formation. So flank charges will be lethal.
Sorry Revlid but SC do not get a 2+ save in combat, only models on foot get a +1 save for having handweapon and shield. But yes, i agree shooting of any kind and artillery hurt lizardmen a lot (and watch out for skinks, they can be a pain for the opposition..)

While shooting can do a lot against Lizardmen, they've got a lot of tricks up their sleeve against shooting, with which they can take out warmachines, lone mages and weak shooting units.
They've got relatively cheap and fast screens.
They've got core scouts for 7 pts/model, which will probably be armed with blowpipes.
There are special super scouting Skinks, which like Waywatchers, have several bonus rules and BS4.
Finally there are Terradons, about the best flying unit in the game (together with the new Warhawk Riders). And they hit quite hard too.
So beware for them and guard your vulnerable warmachines etc. And all Skinks only have T2, so even the weakest arrow can do them serious damage.
any anti-slann tactics?
To make a short summary:
- Many dispel dice and scrolls.
- Items that end the Magic Phase (Slann hate those...)
- Be better at magic than they. Few can do it. But Tzeentch, High Elves and Dark Elves come to mind. Maybe the undead armies?
ok thanks now i know what to expect to be used against my slann (btw u seem 2 reply 2 all of my posts)
What would I be expected to do as a High Elf player versus the lizzies? In my army I have got two blocks of spear elves, two cavalry units, one white lions, two chariots and two eagles. I have got one lvl 4 archmage and one lvl 2 mage.
My strat would be holding because I know that the lizzie-player I'm going to meet has a thing for frontal assult . I have given some thought to flanking him out - but I don't know if it's a good idea - me having fewer troops than he.
