is this hero loadout legal? is it good? (im converting and painting one up and even though i dont play lm i want him to be legal, and cool)
scar vet (or oldblood)
scimitar of the sun
cold one or jaguar
spawning of sotek
i was thinking somthing that could cut through r&f and still do ok against a character...
anyhow, what do you think?

It only works on an Oldblood:
Scimitar Of The Sun
Spawning Of Sotek
He costs nearly 250 points, but he has 9 S5 Attacks on the charge (and with a M9 character, you will be getting the charge!). You can also give him light armour and the Spawning of Quetzl to give him a 2+ Armour Save.
A variant is:
Spawning Of Sotek
Costs more than 100 points less, and used mainly for Knight/Skirmisher/Character hunting. 5 S7 Attacks on the charge, and can also be kitted out light armour and Quetzl for a 3+ Armour Save. Obliviously works wonders against chariots.
Some people like to give the Oldblood a Carnosaur and drop the Charm, giving them effectively 14 S5 Attacks on the charge.
While the Carnosaur Oldblood is more for Rank and File chomping, he can also be given the Blade Of Tzunki instead of the Scimitar of the Sun, meaning that he's wounding almost all knights on 2's, and ignoring their saves, making him good at both tincans and fodder.
so can anyone recommend a setup for a cold one hero?
For a Scar-vet:
A great weapon (add massive strength, and you're probably charging, so no problem with striking last) or maybe even a Scimitar of the Sun.
The Spawning of Itzl (mandatory) and the Spawning of Sotek (you'll be charging).
For the rest, it's up to you. But what I recommend as a basis is a gw, Itzl and Sotek.
If you include a Scar-vet in a CoR unit, it's wise to give the unit a Banner to protect it,for it will be a fire-magnet. The Jaguar Standard allows you to charge earlier and Standard of Chotec protects you directly from missile fire.
hey, thanks for the great info araith! i cant wait to get started on the mini - the new models are very nice.
in terms of gaming, why is it that everyone advises against using a cold one mounted hero without a cav unit? it seems to me like it could be like it could be a good fluffy command unit with some kick. is it because of the stupidity? shouldnt it only be a minor issue with his high leadership?
jaguar charm vs. cold one pros and cons?
The way I see it is, COJW is ceaper(I think), with better movement, and If you like you can have the hand weapon and sheild save. Mounted on a cold one, attacks from the cold one, better speed than on foot w/out the COJW, thick skin save, and the most recent models are great IMO and that can be a deciding factor for me lol.
almost done with the mini - one question though, is it possible to use a maiming shield on a cold one?
cool, thanks, its in the works... it just seems that it could result in a truely obscene number of attacks - maybe its too many points? i donno - no one has suggested the combo, and evans combo seemed to suggest you couldnt. i just think it would be cool on the model.
so far hes got:
scimitar of the sun
spawning of sotek and topek (i like the idea and suggested colors (purple & red) - though i guess they could really represent anything)
the heads (whatever theyre called)
ill post in a week or so.
the new model is cool and all, but a pain - nothing fits well - and there are some funky things (crazy chicken neck)
