Alrighty, so I was digging though the book and well I decided to pick up the army batallion. (Once the price goes down) and for 786 points I will be running 8 calvary, 24 skinks, 24 sarus warriors. The question it is that a good starting build?
What about the calvary, they don't seem that great. Are they worth the points and how many?
Second, I want a sarus character as the main. Would that be a good 1000 point army or should I drop the mounted for 3 kroxogores? Also! 2 units of 12 sarus's at 3x4 with champion etc? Worth it!?
Honest opponions! Especially on the calvary!
I've played a few games with cold ones and yes they are very good. Expensive. Yes, but very effective especially with a scar vet in the unit, or even an old blood on carnosaur. I've never tryed them with a carny but they are very effective with a scar vet on coldone in the unit.
The main problem is that they are 335pts roughly for a geared up unit.
CoR are indeed expensive but they are devastating on the charge and with a character a large unit will almost definitely break any unit you charge (gotta love that fear!)
In 1k points be careful with them though, they are a lot of points and will have a big target painted on their head.
Also their cold blooded leadership is brilliant at passing those stupidity tests.
Good point, although you will defo fail it when you want to pull off that crucial chargeOriginally Posted by domread
I take a unit of 8 CoR, mainly because they came with the battalion box. They're great for protecting a flank, just make sure you have something else on the flank as well. Although they're not the fastest cavalry in town, they still tend to get ahead of the main force. They hit incredibly hard with 8 of them in a unit, but at 280 points that makes them a no no for games less than 1500 points. If you take them in a thousand, knock the unit down to 5 and pick up 3 terradons or maybe some more Skinks or Saurus. CoR work well when they appear to the enemy as a low-priority target. With a Slann or a couple JSOD's running around, or just 3 or 4 phalanx's of Saurus, CoR tend to be overlooked, and man is that a mistake, one you'll be glad to let your opponent make! Anyway, hope I helped. Cheers.
P.S. Stonehambey, I love the W/L/D record, gotta love the sarcasm. SOOOOO many people on this forum boast a 200/2/4 record which just makes me a little sick. C'mon people, be honest; I mean personally...I have THREE losses...
