So I was sitting playing nothing in particular on the guitar with the TV on in the background, when a program about dinosaurs came on. The tricerotops (sp?), the flying ones and the T-Rex all made me think of my lizardmen.
So i looked at my shelf where they sat, then looked back at the screen, then back at my models. It occured to me that i rarely use the carnosaur, which seemed a shame seeing as it is such a cool model.
So it got me thinking about a cc orientated army list which would have an oldblood on carnosaur in it.
Thing is i really like heros in my infantry blocks, as well as a sound magic defence. Which is where my problem with the carnosaur used to arise - that extra hero slot.
So i started wondering if it was possible to make a competative army which had no wizards in it at all. I'm thinking the 2250 mark with an oldblood on t-rex and two scar-vets. With a little help from the God Tepok i can easily make around 7-8 dispel dice.
So i guess i'm asking whether you think this is a viable option? I'm not usually one to take no scrolls but the idea does seem pretty cool ya gotta admit
I'll post any lists i come up with in due course
I love the idea, but I dunno how well it could work in the magic defense department for you.
See the thing is, terradons and saurus cal.(some of the dinosaurs) are special choices. Also, lroxigors or cool enough for me to put them in any dino list. When you give saurus tepok, they become special choices. You could give them 2 spawnings but the steg is a must have for a dinosaur list.
Which leads us to the obvious choice. The sacred host of tepok. This would work pretty well IMO however, if I know anything about you, it's that you like skinks, and when they have tepok, they get a magic resistance of 1 rather then generating dispel dice. Well actually now that I think about it, my skinks do get targeted by magic quite regularly. I was gunna say they don't but then i thought about warplightning, and how not fun that was. So yeah, go with the sacred host and I think it can work well.
I have recently made an army list of this variety.
It is called the 'Dino Attack List' 2000 points and uses 53 models.
In this list I have truly said 'who needs magic when you have 20 Dinos?'
I will make this army list now in the appropriate zone.
Peace, lurks in the Jungle...
Yes as a child I was a HUGE dinosaur fan and funny thing is I even knew all of the scientific latin names for every dinosaur, LOL i was a nerd when i was 5. Anyway I have since forgoten but every time I see dinosaurs on discovery channel i just cant look away. Where i am going with this that they are the things that got me into the hobby, yep i saw a masive dinosaur with a smaller one riding it and stabbing a guy with a spear.
The Idea is really cool, and you know what who cares if it is "competative" all it needs is a little practise and fine tuneing and your monsters will destroy and competition.

I'm currently making an army around Tepok. This is partly because of what I have heard about the 7th edition, I want more of an anti-magic army without being Dwarves. I was thinking of using an Oldblodd with maybe a Skink Priest or two. If not them, I could go with two Scar-Veterans.
"They say the Darkness consumes you. They don't say what happens after It's done."
LoL. It appears i have been a little misunderstood^_^
I wasn't specifically thinking of making a dinosaur list, just a list with no wizards which included a carnosaur
All my usual will be there; skinks, swarms etc. Spawned up saurus are a must with no scrolls.
So i guess i'd like to rephrase my question to 'what character setup do you think would work best in a list with no priests/slann
You could still have a single skink priest with cloak of feathers for a 'counts as' terradon rider' guy. I always thought it was incredibly lame that skink heroes can't ride terradons when wood elf heroes can ride warhawks.
I think the dinosaur themed army (which you weren't talking about) was a cool idea, cold ones, carnosaur, stegagon, salamanders, terradons... technically everything is sort of a dinosaur... darn lizardmen are cool....
In a list with no slann/priests (which I would never dream of doing, I love my priests too much) have your carnosaur lord as the lord obviously, maybe a JSOD and another saurus hero on a cold one or something... A fast list would be good, thats why I'm suggesting fast heroes. I'd definately do a sacred host of tepok if I had no wizards...
Why don't you want wizards? Wizards are cool! But not as cool as Ninja Wizards.....

I just thought this list might be a cool/novel idea:tongue:
I'm not sure about running Tepok host, as the spawnings on the skink units can really eat into the points. Instead i might just play standard list and have my saurus as special. I don't really max out on the other special choices anyway.
