Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok, ive since given up the Vc for dead...........(drumsnare)
i have found myself starting a lizardmen army-
i play turnies often, and know that adaptibility is the key to winning. As you dont often know what your facing untill the next round, or in GT's post the players the next day, but you got to stick to the origional list.
For this i like the diversity of the lizards, but that in lies the problem. so meny choices.
For you vet lizard genrals, id like some advise on piticular units and there task on the feild. How have they operated for you Vs if other units were in that sopt. and some other question i have on lizards.
Terradons Vs. CoR- i like the fact that they can leave you standing there if they loose combat, even if they rally within charge range, they can still take the charge reaction stand and shoot. the CoR are just Fast sarurs right? yes they would get the cold one attacks but other than that?
in refering to above: I tend to use redundant foces- ex: ill have two of everthing to maximise the threat on the table. would this be a case where x5 terradons and x8 Cor would do? or would you recomend i use one or the other? not x2 units of five terroDs' or x2 uits of 8 Cor?
Kroxigors and skinks w/ jalv -shld unit
*) can the Krox be shot at while he is screened with the unit? or do they need to shoot the skinks first?
*) say the skinks get a charge from unit X, and the Krox being directly behind get to charge on there turn, i roll box cars for leadership, does that stop the charge? please explain this too me a bit so i can clearly understand that rule where they move thru skinks.
*)do you recomend @ 2250 1 screning unit of 10 or 15?
im good and set on the slann Vs- old one, but dont feel right about sinking 600+points into a frog.
competively can i get away with a 4th gen or do you recomend a 3rd?
Sharus seem to be the safe point saver vs, temple guard- is the sturborn really that worth it?
cant you just BlesSpawn im to psy and +1 SS save for the same price getting more models from the saurus?
makes them rare but i cant affford the steggy anyway.and they be guarding the big frog.
just some simple rant questions
I like using Cold One Riders they do brute damage . But i use them in a unit of 5. On the charge it does 11 S5 and 5 S4. Which is pretty good. But if really depends who you are facing. If it was my choice i would do one of each. Bolth of them do lots of damage. But since of the new rules I would use them in a group of 10 for cold one riders. The Skinks must be killed first.can the Krox be shot at while he is screened with the unit? or do they need to shoot the skinks first? It means that the skinks hold.say the skinks get a charge from unit X, and the Krox being directly behind get to charge on there turn, i roll box cars for leadership, does that stop the charge? please explain this too me a bit so i can clearly understand that rule where they move thru skinks.I use 10 they are quite cheap and work welldo you recomend @ 2250 1 screning unit of 10 or 15?
I use a 4th Gen it may not be the same for others but it works for me.LEmme see i find TG worth it. I don't need immune to psy. Besides you using 30 points for each of those Spawnings. And Saurus don't get the +1 Strength from halberds. And TG have a higher WS and Initiative which is pretty goodSharus seem to be the safe point saver vs, temple guard- is the sturborn really that worth it?cant you just BlesSpawn im to psy and +1 SS save for the same price getting more models from the saurus?
The Old Ones have not forgotten me!
Well it seems like OldMagik answered most of your questions so I'll just give answer to the questions that are oppinion based.
I have used CoR a cople of times and have found them to be pretty good, but they do cost a lot of points which I don't like, and need to atleast five strong, so even a small unit will cost a lot. Terradons have a much different role in the army, they tend to go after warmachines, march block, and annoy troops with there javalins, and pick off a mage hiding in a unit with there hit and run. I would rather go with terradons as they suit my style of play more, which is to annoy large blocks of troops with skinks and salamanders and finish them with saurus.
For your screaning skinks I would normally go with 10, but since you want them to offer protection to your kroxigors and that's pretty much all they will be doing I would go with 15, since he will needs to kill more to cause panic, and they will last a bit longer.
For the slann using a 4th generation is just fine, I tend to go either 4th generation so I don't have to worry about miscast, or 2nd generation for the extra casting die. 3rd generation doesn't offer much other than a new spell and a slight stat line increase.
About temple guard they seem pretty point heavy, but also pretty scary. I think they are to expensive to use most of the time, but in very large point games, like 2500 or more a unit of them will be alright. Also since you can only take 1 unit per slann it becomes an incredibaly costly unit, so normal saurus seem fine.
Both of these need to be used correctly to be effective. Terradons are great but they will die to shooting very easily, even to bowfire. They can be very unforgiving at times. CoR are expensie, but very very good. Higher WS than normal saurus, cause fear, S5 on the charge. Even the stupidity doesn't matter that much when you have a high cold blooded ld.Originally Posted by starscream-xI always go 2nd, they're just filthy. Extra dice for every spell and 8 wounds! You can't even kill it with a cannon. Some people like the more economic fourth gen slann, but if you want to play the magic heavy list then it 2nd gen all the way for me. Believe me 600 points is well worth it.Originally Posted by starscream-xStandard saurus with bs of tlazcotl are the best bet for 2250 pts. Although i must admit, TG are pure filth; 2 S5 attacks each! However this might make you tempted to push your Slann forward, which is a mistake. models are cool though^_^Originally Posted by starscream-x
As with all armies the best thing is to playtest a lot and see what works best for you, good luck
