I just purchased some Lizardmen and am wondering what to add to it next.. So far I have..
40 Saurus Warriors
8 Cold One Riders
1 Scar Veteran
I was looking at Terradons..they seem really cool for the point cost..and I love hit and run. In addition I was thinking of a sally unit..but again I'm not quite sure. I'm thinking of using a Slann at 2,000 so that means I'm not too far off really since Slann can be so expensive but again I don't know..which is why I'm posting
my suggestion is to write up an army list for the points level towards which you are heading, and then just choose the models on that list which you need one group at a time.
Always make an army list before buying so that you don't end up with 100 minis left on your desk.
If you want a slann then grab another box of saurus with him. You can give those 16 spears and model them as temple guard. Then you'll have three solid blocks of 20 saurus - an excellent start.
Terradons are great, but I think possibly salamanders in this case as you can always use the scar vet for character hunting (and he does do a good job at it ^^)
So slann and box of saurus would be my next choices

before you get more saurus get more skinks, you need them to screen everything, and they can make good scouts too!
What lizardman army is complete without salamanders? They add a lot to your game. They can move back and shoot if need be. Lizards seem to have a balance between big and small. I also suggest doing something interesting with your characters. Skink priests on steggadons are pretty darn sturdy. Not always a solution but fewer weakling units will harass you. It gives a caster good armor as well. Interesting ideas for you but I didnt notice a rare so thought I'd start from that end.

I think that you will need to add in a Skink Priest or two soon. They give you some magic defence and allow you to attack from range with their access to the Lore of Heavens. They will also slot in nicely with your Slann down the track.
As previously mentioned, Terradons and Salamanders are good options as well and will complement your existing units.

But really, these guys are highly mobile, aquatic, fairly decent in combat, skirmished, armour piercing and did i mention they look really cool??
Just my opinion, but i think some other people have mentioned salamanders as well...

Well so far I've added another box of skinks. I want salamanders but man they are expensive...
Now my major decision is if I'm going to use a Slann or not. My friends and I usually play 2k and he seems like kind of a point sink esp with older Slann. The alternative of course is an old blood with a carno (I know a lot of people hate the carnosaur but I love it).
And do you think Cold One riders are worth it for the points? I'm not saying they suck..but any means..I got a charge off with them last night and it was incredible but they ARE quite expensive and have a low AR save for heavy cav.

You don't have to choose a lord at 2k points. Even if you do choose an oldblood, he doesn't have to be mounted on a carnosaur, you can stick him on foot
A Slann is a lot of fun though, as is a T-Rex
Also, I think that CoR are definitely worth their points. They really do hit very hard :x
cold one riders are definatly worth points i play a lizardmen player and his cold one riders usaully charge my orks or gobbos and tear them down. IMO you should get another box of 8 cold one riders and have one unit of 10 and a unit of 5 then also get a skink priest they are worth their points also if used correctly.
