I'm still new to WHFB, but I've noticed from reading the boards that saurus seem to be alot more desirable since 7th edition came out. In 6th edition, it seemed that everyone ran skink-only lists. Now, it seems that saurus are back in fashion. Is all of this due to the new march-block rule with skirmishers, or has something else changed?
I still field about 40 skinks in my 1.000pt list and they are doing very well, but i also use an nice unit of Saurus and they have never failed me.

All skink lists can work very well. All saurus lists work a lot less well. A balance is good too. In 2k points I run about 60 saurus and 40 skinks, seems to work quite well. I've played all skink lists extensively as well, they can be a lot of fun. You might want to check out the Red Host or the Southlands list
I field 30 skinks in my regular 'friendly' 2000 point list, although I do have 40 in my tournament list.

its just that saurus needs skinks, skinks needs saurus i have around 30-40 skinks and about 40 saurus in my 2k force, and they've never let me down the past couple of years, and i'm still using the same list!:w00t:
the numbers of skinks may go down but, they're not completely wiped out in terms of their ingame useage
I run 60 saurs and 30 skinks. It is mostly about how you play and what you desire. Lizardmen is a very versatile list.
I like saurs. They have great stats, and excellent staying power. I run them in block of 20 and even all shooty armies (HE, WE, etc.) look at them with fear. They usually make up there too, because of the balance that I have set up in the army. One squad may get wiped out, but the skinks are harassing the enemy and they can't see past the kroxigors, salamanders, or stegadon.
My 2 cents.
