Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am pretty new to fantasy (being playing 40K for the last couple of years) and i am curently using a lizard army.
Any ideas on their tactics would be appreciated.
Yo darth, welcome to fantasy...
There are a few ways of playing lizardmen, lots of skinks, lots of saurus, combined, dinasaurs.
If you give us an idea of what you've got, we can help you with tactics and how to expand.
I think Andre is mostly right lotta skinks lotta saurus and dinos . You can do bait anvil hammer. Bait-Skinks cheap effective units Anvil-Saurus even TG Hammer-COR, Kroxigors, Stegadon. probably Kroxigors and Stegadon more than COR. Skinks can also be used to bring down giants. Take out war machines. Assassinate characters. Salamanders can be used to burn down flammable people. Destroy infantry(3 salamanders). Kroxigors kill chariots anything to hard for S4 infantry to kill. Terradons can march block and take out war machines. Stegadon make people fear you. It is a chariot. Slann ultimate magic conquering
The Old Ones have not forgotten me!
It really depends on what models you want and learning how they work out. I happen to be a Lizardmen fanatic myself (who doesn't like Aztec/Mayan-esque Dinosaurs?). I'll just list a couple of the choices in the list (which'll be a bit of a better explaination of such unit choices):
Salamanders are a must, provided you're playing games at about 1500 points or higher. Their ability to spout flames may be range 15", but with 6" movement that builds up to about 21" in range, and that's if you decide to let loose a round whilst moving (amusingly, on a Misfire they fry some or all of the Skink Handlers; they'll then be rolling on the Monster Reaction table after that, if all Skink Handlers become fried Curry Shrimp Teriyaki). They're also Skirmishers, so you'll be relieved that they won't be shot to pieces in a single round.
Kroxigor are also a very good choice, and they're nice and handy for grinding a chariot into shredded wheat. By the way, if you're going to pit them against elite units (say, the kind with T4 and/or WS4 or so) or even enemy heroes, then have one of the Kroxigor be an Ancient; not only will he be able to add an extra S7 Attack to a charge, but he can also accept or issue challenges against enemy heroes (it's worthwhile, even if it'll make a single Kroxigor unit a tad more expensive).
Other than that, you'll certainly enjoy the rest of the Dinos, who can dish out a decent number of wounds themselves in combat (in particular, the Carnosaur whose Blood Frenzy works when fighting Large Targets such as Spawn, Ogres, and Trolls). Anyways, good luck on your Lizardmen force.
Thanks for the help, although i do have one query.
Even though the salamanders are skirm's they do not get the -1 mod from shooting, due to fact that they are larger than a norm man sized object (ie unit strength is greater than 1) according to the 7th ed rules.
So how do u keep them from getting shot to bits?.
Well, I am pretty new to WHFB as well, but I have played a few games with my lizzies now, and from my experience, either you are using skinks as a screen for the slow saurus or beefy kroxigors and they are supposed to get shot to pieces; or you make them scouts and deploy them in some convenient terrain to make em even harder to shoot at and use em to harass the enemy while they march.
Remember, all the lizardmen live(or die)to serve the Old Ones. Often times, this means the low point skinks sacrifice themselves to make sure the heavy hitters get into combat relatively unscathed.
Have fun with them lizards.

Any ideas on a useful scar vet combo? With a great weapon he is pretty nasty, but is there reason to take anything else>, other than spawning of Sotek?
i like this one very much:
BS of Itzl
BS of Quetzl
Aura of Quetzl
a big deal of points, but i find him VERY useful. nearly invincible in combat, and aura for war machine defense.
if anyone helps you with an army list or rules/fluff , then give them some rep
