I searched and I could not find any threads about the pro's and con's of having a unit of Saurus with 2 hand weapons.
I have yet to play my first game using my Lizardmen and I was wondering if creating a block of Saurus with 2 hand weapons would be worthwhile.
If so, what spawning ( or 2? ) would you use?
How else would you equip them?
That would be because 2 hand weapons is not an option for any Saurus in the game that I have ever seen.
You also won't find any discussion on Jungle Swarms wearing heavy armor either for the same reason
You could I suppose model them as 2 hand weapons if you wanted, but they would be treated in the rules as having hand weapon/shield. Fluff wise it would be assumed they get the shields armor save from parrying with the additional hand weapon, just as fluff wise a Sauras with a shield gets an extra attack by hitting with it like an additional hand weapon. It is important to note again however such a change would be entirely cosmetic. The rules would still be the default rules in the army book.
Actually I may do that with one of my blocks now, just cause it'd look cool...
If using spawnings it depends mostly on your foe and battlefield. Quetzl is the only real 'all around' useful spawning, the rest I would not advise using till you know the game better as they are situational to the foe, the battlefield, and your own strength and weaknesses as an army general.

It'd be great if you could give it to them though. Core troops with 3 S4 attacks each, ouch!
Spears might have a similar effect, but not on the turn you charge.
In FB the options for a unit are listed beneath each unit entry in the army book. Saurus don't have the option of carrying additional hand weapons ergo they cannot take them. Not sure if this is how it works in 40K books or not, but it might be a useful heads up to avoid any other confusion in case you weren't sure
Spawnings are great but not a necessity with saurus I have found. Out of all of them my favourite is Tlazcotl. Can't beat a bit of ItP IMO! =P
nah i disagree i think 2 hand weps would ruin em right now t,str,armour 4 works for em so why change it?
what i would like to see is their ini increased (they are warriors why are they so slow) and get their old ini1 bite attack back (fer more info see preivious editions)
as to spawnings i think the scaly skin one would be better as saurus with 3+ save = fantasy marines yeah!
