I thought i'd venture into the LOTR's forum for a change.

Heres my 1500pts Dwarf list that i've had some success with. Infact it's not lost in 7 games but maybe thats just my opponents.

Balin with Axe o' Doom
Dwarf with Banner
8 Khazad Guard.

Dwarf Captain, Great Weapon
14 Iron Guard

Dwarf Captain, Great Weapon
14 Iron Guard

3 Balistas + 1 extra crewman. (to bring pain to Pike Blocks and things that would take my Iron Guard down)

It's very low on body Count i know but I expect that with Dwarves. Iron Guard with 2 Attacks each in combat plus Throwing weapons they should be able to hold off against a numerically superor opponent.
With good old fashioned Dwarfy Defence i can be pretty safe from Low str Bow Fire.

Nazgul and Troll+lots of Morannon Orcs might be able to take them, but 28 Iron Guard alone is more than a handful
