Andusciassus man... awesome job... I liked the work you have done on the backpack. The maggots don't look so maggots but I think with the painting they will...

Nice work... Can't wait to see it painted!

Thanks
Tha maggots, yesss.... well the thing is I tried to keep them as small as possible and I agree on them having a bit more to prove. But I did the same on my last dread and (much as you said) once painted they really popped.
I'm glad you like the backpack too, there are still some small things to finish on it but like I said, hopefully it'll all be done tonight

I'm really curious on how the maggots will look when painted. I'm still thinking about how to make maggots... Maybe rice as you suggested.

The intestinal thingy that runs from the backpack looks really nice and I've seen it on your other models. How do you sculpt it? Separate blobs on a paper clip that you blend together or do you sculpt them from a string of GS? I'd like to copy it

It's just a string of GS really. Make sure to apply either apply it and let it cure for a little while before cutting the lines in it, or to make the lines before you attach it. Then just smoothen the "flat" areas a bit before it completely cures.
The good thing is that such an intestial is really indifferent to how you treat it compared to most other things. It only benefits from being slightly disorted really.

Cheers

Cutting lines? Do make sharp cuts (like slicing bread) that you then smooth out or do you make depressions (squeeze it) to make portions of it thinner?

Have you considered using water effects of any kind? I've seen some very realistic looking slime coats done for Nurgle effects, especially on the abdomen region. Having small wounds oozing puss would also look good.

As an hq, you may want to consider having a few collected heads and helmets from other armies kept at his belt.

Otherwise, the progress is looking very good.;Y

@Ikterius: Hmm... now you made me think about how I do this, and I kind of...just do it But I think your second version is the best. I just use the sharp edge of the sculpting tool to create a line all around. Try it out and you'll see what I mean-it is very simple. You can hold your (wet) fingers on the backside of the string for support so it doesn't go all crazy.

@Rabbit: I just got my water-effect in the mail, and I will use some on this dude too. The most will be used in the mouth, and at the tip of the tail, but the wounds and the maggots will have their share too

Andi mate. As I haven't looked at this all that much over the past few days... nice going! I'm liking the look and the very ironic idea of a apothecary turning to Nurgle. hehe. Nice going! One thing, when you use water effects, give him a slime trail on the base. You must do!! =D

Slime trail, but of course that's such a good idea I might even name him after you
I'll even add some maggots to the trail.

That looks amazing. I may have to "borrow" the idea for my Death Guard army
