Default WHFB Nurgle marauder conv. need help

Greetings!

One of the last units I need to complete for my Nurgle mortals army is a huge block of 25 marauders. And after taking a look at the models in the armybook and a closer look at the model sprues I'm not pleased at all.. I really don't like the models one bit. And I would hate spending all that time painting 25 of them. Therefore I've concluded I'll have to convert every last model , or find a suitable replacement that will fit in with a few changes and the right paintjob..

Like I said, I really don't like the marauder models. I think their hugely oversized muscles and stances are poorly modelled, and so I don't want to base my conversions on the marauder models (like the Nurgle marauders in the armybook).

As an old fan of the Zombie regiment box, I've considered simply making the unit from zombies with their variaty of hand weapons and fitted with marauder shields (those are actually ok ) and then paint them in the same colours as the rest of my army..

I've already used zombie models as pulling "beasts" for my 2 nurgle chariots, so they wouldn't look totally out of place..

Anyways, what do you think of this idea? And also I'd love any other clever ideas of how to create the unit.

Thanks for reading!

Regards.

I would say go for it! Although or especially because Zombies will definitely not have the same appearance as Marauders usually have. When I read your post it came to my mind that mixing the Zombies' with some different models' bits for your champion, musician or standard bearer might look pretty good. Or get some additional bits for all your Marauders.

What came to my mind were the well-known and frequently used Beastmen. I have never seen them mixed with Zombies before. The hoof of a horse like the devil has one?! Click!

Or maybe you want some crooked guys?! Try the Orc regiment! Click!

If you wanted some reeeeally bulky champions you could also try a regiment of these. Might be too much or might look just awesome! Click!

Or you could only use the parts of the marauders you like at least the shields?! Click!

As you can see I do not only like your project and see a lot of potential in it, but I am also a big fan of converting and combining totally different sprues. You should consider to try it!

Thanks for sharing your ideas.. I've also been told to look into converting the new flagelants, and I really like the robes on those models. The sprue also looks like it has parts enough to both make models with handweapons and (ofcourse) models with flails (which I might want to add to my army later).

I have some leftovers from a beastmen box somewhere.. So I'm gonna look into mixing some part in for the command group from it.

Thanks for your help
