Hey all, I'm working on making a Tyranid Special character, for which the tentative rules can be found at http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...d.php?t=104553. So, Having just ordered some bitz, I have a carnifex coming, as well as OOE's claws and some more paint. The roles this creature must fulfill: 1. It's Synaptic, but not overly Psychic. 2. It's a walking birthing organism, capable of putting out as many as 10 models per turn. 3. It's a living engine of destruction, able to rip through troops and tanks with almost equal ease. I was thinking I'd use my spare Rippers and model them into its back and base, to represent the Progenitor and Anklebiters Rules. maybe give it a Hormagaunt arm poking out of a cyst to represent that as well. I'm in a hurry but here is a link to my photobucket. http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z...nids/?start=20 It contains images of a Carnifex I converted into a scorpion, it may give you a few ideas. I left a post in the rules section for you. I think that the twin tail is interesting and you should consider that at the moment it is the only distinctive feature you have described concerning this thing. Basically it is a Carnifex with crushing claws and two tails. If you ditch the twin tails you will be left with a Carnifex that has only crushing claws which is one less weapon than normal, basically a small Carnifex. Get some more ideas about what this thing looks like, details etc. If you want giant claws try these. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog...RANIDS_13.html The two stone crusher claws could certainly give it a nasty look, they count as crushing claws and rending claws in the game. |

Well, I've decided against the twin tails - I'm not a modeler of such a caliber that I could pull that off well. I may just give it a mix of the two biomorphs, and say that it counts as both. What I'm mainly wondering about is the head. A Fex head with ES, some armor plates, maybe a few hormagaunt scythes might work. For lower legs, I like the look of your Scorpion fex - And I already have some painted Scything Talons in my bitz shelf. An additional Weapon - Another set of Crushing Claws, perhaps? |

I don't think you're normally allowed two pairs of crushing claws, of course this thing isn't normal is it. I would say if you want it oozing psychic powers it will need a huge head to show it's huge evil psychic brain, like the Zoanthrope has. A normal Carnifex head isn't that psychic looking. You should also think about really bulking it out to show all the extra toughness and wounds etc. Those legs can work, however once you apply them the Carnifex will no longer fit on it's original base. I used a base made of three CD's stuck together. I built up the base with bits and pieces. |

Hmmm... if I were better versed with green stuff, I'd be tempted to bulk it out. I'll more than likely simply add a hell of a lot of spikes and other acoutremants, though. Thank god for the Thornback sprue <3 As to the head... Not sure I want to butcher my current zoanthrope to do that. |
