Combi plasma woes

Hi there,

As many people may know, the new Codex chaos allows certain models to select combi plasma guns. Excellant. But, there are unfortunatley few of these on the market at present. These being, Azrael's, the Space marine commader's and the new librarian in terminator armour's.

I need five of these to fit onto my new chaos terminators, should i get 5 of the above OR should i convert the combi bolters with imperial plasma pistols (they are slimmer than the chaos varient so will fit in easier with the conversion).??

Well, as Chaos marines are often older than... um... an old thing, I would say convert your own. That way you can personalise each one to help differentiate between the models carrying them. The great thing about Chaos is that even a rough conversion job can be made to look quite good just by covering any odd parts with a trophy, skull, tentacle etc. Even leaving a rough looking area alone and painting it up to look like damage from centuries of battle can look quite good.

I would definitely convert your own; that way your terminators look more distinct than if all five of them had the same weapon. You have a much greater scope for individuality if you convert so I say conversion is the way. Thats not to say you shouldn't give some of the termies pre-made combis - just not all of them.

I'd say go and get plasmapistols, cut off the hand and glue on, any big huge holes can be fixed by makinjg a rope of greenstuff around, which makes it look like the guy just said "hmmm, rope a busted plasmagun and a bolter, is this a sign from the chaos gods?"

that's what I'm doing when I want to switch to chaos. if I remember!

After looking at the models closely ive decided to convert some of them, and use two of the plastic commander ones my friend gave me today. The slim Imperial marine plasma pistol looks the best, its slimmer and fits better. I may need to convert some plasma coils for the models though.
