Default Need ad-Vice

I apologise for the ridiculously terrible pun in the title, I couldn't help myself. If I hurt anyone, or caused any distress again, I apologise and I hope we can make it a thing of the past between us all....

Anyway, I just bought a hobby vice(you get it?? ad-vice!! kill me now.) from my local hobby shop and after getting it home, I realised that anything I put in it will be crushed horribly. Is there an effective way to pad the insides of the vice so that details dont get squished?

Again, sorry.
bob.

Maybe some blister foam? You know the annoying foam you get with blisters

Rubber grips should be best otherwise try out little bits of flat wood either side lolly/popsikle stick should be fine to save details.
What you could do though is not tighten it so tight.

That had occurred to me believe it or not :p

I get the feeling these vices aren't really made for plastic parts, am i right? I've killed a couple of bolters already. These rubber grips, you can buythem right?

Try using packing styrofoam. You know, the stuff that comes in boxes with, say, computers, TVs, etc. Stick a couple slabs to the insides of your vice, and try that. It should be firm enough to hold your mini in place, but it will "give" enough so as not to mess with your detail. That'd be my guess, though I've never tried this, so Your Mileage May Vary.
