Actually I just remembered my old idea for Alpha legion. It has to do with that battle where UMs chased Alpharius onto a planet, but were cut off. After days of fighting, they saw Ultramarine reinforcements coming over the hill. When they were in range, the faux smurfs opened fire. The AL boys painted the front of their armor in blues and yellows. I was thinking of first painted an Alpha in standard green/black scaley look, give him a hydra shoulder pad, then haphazardly paint the front in UM blue, and make a sloppy freehand omega symbol.

I am interested in how you will do the end of the Scythes of the Emperor, sorry for exposing your plot. The Tyrant you are talking about is it this one? Imperial Armour Volume Four - The Anphelion Project I have that book and that picture is cool. That idea you have about doing disguised Alpha legion types is good. You could have them acting friendly, waving and such. This might reinforce that thery are lying. You could try to make it look like the Ultra marine colours were quickly sprayed on. Paint it so that the blue covers over the joints and tubes too which are normally a different colour. I have noticed that food and sleep seem to rule you, or are they the only things that will make you move yourself? You often end posts with a need for one of these things. That is good as food and sleep are lovely and good.:wa termelon: All these wee things are fun to poke at, I didn't know we had so many.

EDIT: I think i should paint the front of the AL because I'm a horrible artist, that way i can only fail if i do a good job!

Well it is now 4:31 am, and the thinkin' juices are starting to churn. I had better write down a few ideas, then force myself to sleep soon. I don't want to lay awake thinking up ideas and kicking my nocturnal habits into some sort of insomnia.

For some reason I can't come up with any good ideas for Loyalist legions. The Dark Angel seems bland in comparison to the EC and WE idea. It saddens me that the next two ideas are for more traitor legions.

Thousand Sons: Make him all red and gold. Hooray! Nothing difficult like source lighting this time. But I keep thinking that I want to model some warp power shooting from him. Maybe a twin spiral of energy starting from his hand, wrapping around his staff, then shooting out a bit? They wouldn't be making contact with anything except the arm, with less than a cm gap between them and the staff. The ends will just be little fireballs instead of skulls, because I've seen the shooting skull thing and it looked sucky. This will be painted in white, and light blues. Maybe even a small hint of green. Woo hoo, I just kicked simplicity's ass, and made my conversion life a tad bit harder.

Death Guard: This will be a tough one. I've done a plague marine, and I had a blast. Sad thing is, I would feel wrong if I copied the same idea. I hate the bloated belly thing, it looks like crap. Typhon was the only guy with a noted horned helm, so FW heads can suck it. I really loved doing the helmet with a head inside, but I would then go down as 'that one guy' who puts heads in space marine helmets. Actually I take that back, Ein did it just the other week, and he apparently came up with it randomly This sucks. Now I have to be completely original. I don't like being original! I like having a concept art or previous ideas to base my work on.

So I kinda failed, and only had 1 idea this night (morning). I guess I should just hope someone throws out some cool ideas for DG. Remember that they are still gray and green back then, and it could be before the Destroyer plague makes them all gooey.

It is now 4:53, and I'm gonna do stuff, then pass out.


Hey Leech, you forgot two things that I end these posts on. and Constipation and Allergies are never fun when mixed together. And that picture is indeed the picture I was thinking about! Nice find. I guess everyone can see that amazing piece of art.

Hmmm, poor boy. Constipation keeps things in where allergies make them shoot out. Irresistable force meets immovable object in your body what a pleasant mental image. I imagine you should be able to come up with some Death guard ideas from that. You said you may not want gooey Death guard. I remember that the Death guard are very infantry oriented. You could try to make them look like 1st world war type folk. They could be all muddy in the trenches with bits of blown up corpses nearby.

hey, jaffar, for those bear cavalry you're commisioning, Might I suggest reapers' dwarf bear cavalry figures? They are in the right scale, and the are on the cheap (relatively speaking, that is). It might be hard to get the dwarfs off of the bears (not sure if they are moulded on). The are in the dark haven legends series, one is in the 2200s' and the other is in the 2300s'.

Actually I have looked into those, and they aren't in scale. The look like bears when dwarfs are riding them, but reaper is a tad bit smaller than 40k, and it would look more like Oversized Dog Cavalry. Thanks anyways.

The Krylov bear looks cool, but for all I know it's discontinued, and probably at least 15 bucks a piece.

Loving the old projects here, something like spawn, thats intense for a first gs project I think, I don't think I'd ever be confident enough to do that, hes an awesome hero though.

The gun for the fallen commander is wicked as man! hope he comes out well, is there a trick to making the legs look so nice and cylindrical, or is it an illusion?

Well in boredom I decided to use my amazing skills at Microsoft paint to make quick concept art of some of the PH marines I plan on making. I used the BnC marine painter for a template.


Yeah, well I hope I don't need to explain this one too much. The helmet is the maximus style from the BT upgrade sprue.


Well, here is the World Eater. He'll be smashing some poor guy into the wall. The pink bits are brains, the white bits are skull fragments, and the red is Heinz Ketchup. Squish.
