I want to have a unit of Snipers in my Cadian based army. I don't like the look of the current cadians with the camo cloaks. I was wondering if I could get a box of scouts, or their weapons sprue, and put them on the regular guardsman. Is this transplant fairly easy? And also, is it fluffy that they are using Space Marines weapons? Thanks in advance.

problem is the scouts are bigger than the marines i think... take a guardsmen and hack the barrel from the end of its lasgun. take another lasgun and cut it in half ahead of the clip. Shave away unneeded bulges and such and glue it together (pretty much make a lasgun longer). take a scope from the heavy weapon boxes and attack to it DING! instant sniper rifle |

If you run out of scopes, you could try chopping a pair of binoculars in half and use those. If you want them to look realistic I would also suggest shortening the clip by taking out the central part and moving the whole thing up, fiddly but realistic. Also perhaps try and use mostly kneeling legs, or convert them lying down? To show the extra pains taken to aim these weapons. Last but not least, if you're looking for a very easy changeover, just get the forge world elysian weapons sprue for some easy bull pup style snipers. Hope this helps.

Maybe you know someone who plays Marines? You do?! Good! Ask if you could get a scope or two from the ordinary marine kit... Most SM players have plenty of scopes in their bitbox...

I myself didn't really like the IG snipers, either...so I took some regular guardsmen, and then modeled them laying down. I chopped a barrel end off a lasgun, stuck a small rod in it to extend the barrel out, and then stuck the end back onto it. For the scope, I just chopped the binos in half and glued them to the top of the weapon. For the spotter, I left him with a regular lasgun, and put the other half of the binos on a bipod. Then I covered 'em both in a guillie suit. ![]() Best part about these? People kept forgetting they were there, thinking they were part of the terrain! Even on the tabletop, Concealment can be just as important as cover! Last edited by Zeewulf; August 2nd, 2008 at 13:20.. |

If I remember correctly the Heavy Weapons Team boxes have some guardsmen lying down right? I'll just use those and put them on a bigger base or something. Speaking of heavy weapons, I might convert the lascannon into a "super heavy las gun." Pretty much the same thing except like a big rifle. |

now thats a good idea! diguese a few hard hitting models and call them snipers... people will always overlook them! best part of that, you barly have to paint anything!

Yeah, my unit's are painted in a grey clothes / black armor scheme so I was wondering what to use for camo. Maybe some scattered bits and hide them under some rubble or something. Or I could fashion some low walls on their bases and place them on there.

Sorry for the doublepost, but I put together a prototype sniper. I chopped the binoculars in half and mounted it on the top of the lasgun, then chopped off one of the guns on my chimera and glued it to the barrel. lemme find my camera and i'll take pics Edit: Here's some pics I primed the darker one, and put the other together last night. gonna paint em soon ![]() ![]() Last edited by kuijibo; August 5th, 2008 at 02:59..
