i just happend come across this problem myself. i decided to use the base they come with, and decorate it appropriately. think about what you could do with a free base to decorate! half of my warriors will be standing on them, so no big deal there, but the other half will be flying or bounding off of them... my local hobby store does model aircraft and they have small brass rods which dont stand out too much. i use this to elevate the warrior to desired height. and i drill a little hole in the base with a hobby knife and glue it in so that the rod goes all the way through and to the table... then i glue it in. (rod gets glued in before warrior gets glued on) if after assembly the model is top heavy, i glue small bits of lead to the underside of the base, this i also get from my local hobby store. i dont think this answers your question too well, but it may give you insight into how i got around the same issue.

Good suggestions, honestly. I was thinking about going that route, but the balance issue is the only thing bugging me....I'll have to order some fishing weights or something!

One fella I know uses pennies and cuts them up to fit as needed. It gives good enough weight for the stuff that he works on, mostly orks, but might be too light for what you are looking for. |

i use pennies for gaunts and the occasional genestealer. i got a sheet of thin lead from the hobby store (i think it gets used in model trains for who knows what) and that has helped temendously. it was reasonably cheap and since its flat (unlike most fishing weights) its far easier to work with, and the regular gw glue works just fine with it.
