Default Chaos lord conversion

I have posted this before, but then I put it down and didn't come back to it for a while. Plus, my cat decided to play with it at one point. I was enjoying building this model before I stopped working on it, so I've decided to start up on it again.

It is a chaos lord (I don't play chaos, so don't yell at me if he is equipped wrong or something) based off of nightmare from soul calibur. There are obvious differences, since nighmare is from a past setting, and 40k is in a futuristic setting.

Nightmare --> http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...ghtmare-02.jpg (for those who don't play soul calibur)

I've also run into a problem... His sword is huge, and it is being placed in a normal chaos marine's hand. It won't stay attached.

This is what I have so far:

NOTE: He does in fact have more fingers than nightmare.

Are you trying to model him as holding the sword up? 'Cause if you're having problems with that, why not have him holding the sword point-down resting on the base? It'd be a lot less hassle that way, and would create cool contrast with the pointing lightning claw.

i would sugest have him holding it over his shoulder behind his head, but u may have to take of the horns and re-position them if u were to do that

failing that, you could run a small pin through the centre of the marines hand and into the base of the sword to give it a stronger bond

Another solution is to just use a bigger base. Im pretty sure the rules for bases are no smaller than what it comes with, but bigger is fine (correct me if Im wrong on this). This would leave space for him holding it however you needed.

After playing the latest SC, 4 I think, I myself wanted to do a few marines themed as Nightmare, going with his look in 4
(http://www.sparkr.com/wordpress/wp-c..._nightmare.jpg http://matteomazzali.files.wordpress...sd-jpgcopy.jpg), So Im looking forward to see how your's comes along

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may go with a larger base as captainhowdy suggested. The only problem is, I play an infantry based space marine army. Most of those marines being assault marines. (I have no terminators...) I do however have a spare base from a high elves horse, that I probably won't use. The only problem I see with this though, is that it isn't a 40k base. I don't know if that would make a difference to some people or not. Being that he is in normal power armor, I would count it as a regular sized base. But I'm still not sure if people would have problems with me playing it. (I've been thinking about starting a chaos army.)
