Ten Kans WIP

For the Ork army im working on, I plan to scratchbuilt 9 Kans and a Deff Dread. The will be lead by Big Mek Kankrusha, who is waiting on a body and head to be delivered before he can be built.

The Kans will be in 3 groups of 3, and guns have not been added so far.

And without further delay, the 1st of 3 squads of Kans






The way Im seperating the squads is by thier DCCW. This squad has the claws, the next will have buzzsaw hands:


and the last will have wreaking ball flails.

The deff dread is still in its beggining stages


and is comming along good.

And just for the heck of it, the leader of da boys, Boss Deffklaw himself


How is this so far? Any suggestions on anything will be greatly appreciated

They look great! I love how orks can be so easy to make up. You can do whatever you want with them really. I like how orky they look. I can't wait to see the finished result of the wrecking ball.

Yeah, that's actually really impressive. A very simple design but you can really imagine them stomping awkwardly along. I'm looking forward to seeing the Deff Dread.

Oh and good work with the Boss, a more focused picture would be great!

I personally would have added knees to the legs (currently they would have to waddle to move) but thats just my preference.

I'm looking forward to seeing the flails. If you havent already decided on how to make them I'd suggest using the balls from the fanatic sprue from the night goblin range.

I think they are looking really good! They look really Orky, and look pretty much the same as normal Kans. Be good to see them all together and painted! Nice work!

Strikingly effective, I like seeing the WIP shots - is the main body a bit of plastic plumbing?

Also, have to say it; 'By Your Command!'

The bodies are actually bits of pipe from an old "marble drop" toy set I found lying around. The pieces to that are the assorted brightly colored pipes in the background.

As for the Dread, spent duct tape roll wraped with .01 plasticard. Plumbing piping would work just as easy for these though, just didnt feel like going through the process of measuring out 9 equal sized pieces.

Knees would have been a good idea, didnt really think that through. I do have no problem seeing these things waddleing along a battle field though, so no worries.

And as for pics, I have done a good bit more on the dread since I took these, so Ill get those up tonight and Ill try to take a more focused pic of the boss.

For the big shootas, Ive ordered two IG autocannons, which I intend to mount on the top of the dread, in addition to a barricade of sandbags and a few grots manning the cannons. This can also take care of the WYSIWYG for grot riggers

Da gubbins were alot bigger than I thought, so I settled for an easier set up than mentioned


And with the grot rigger now modeled, hes all ready for painting



Also, the wreakin balls I needed are in, so the last squad of kans should be done soon

Its' coming along well, and obviously you have an ample supply of plasticard for these so I suggest gubbins! and when I say gubbins I mean load them up with gubbins!
If you can, find some plasticard rods about 1/1.5 mm and another with an ID about the same size so they roughly slide into eachother and make some pistons man! either that or use springs because its all about the gubbins
