Thread: IG Conversion question

    IG Conversion question

OK so im planning on making traitor guard but I have a very big beef with how the cadian heads look. I dont like how the helmets look. So I was thinking of a small conversion of putting hooded heads on instead of football helmets, but the problem is i don't know if it will work at all.

    So my question is this.

Are the LOTR Rangers of Gondor have there heads separate from the bodies or do I need to figure out another way?

Sorry man, the heads are not seperate and also the scale for LotR is smaller then 40k by enough to make it look wierd if you tried a head-swap.

You could try using either the non-helmeted IG heads, SM Scouts, or most of the heads from the Warhammer range (like Chaos Marauders, Empire Flagelants, maybe even Vampire Counts Crypt Ghouls) and use Green Stuff to make hoods for them. It might take a bit of practice (and be a lot of work for a full IG army) but it will allow you to have a head of individual heads and to have some with hoods pulled back or whatever.

If you still wanted to use the Rangers then you would have to chop out the heads from the bodies and pin them to the IG bodies. You would then have to fill any gaps with GS to make them fit.

Also take a look at the Necromunda range for some cool hooded and cultist-type heads. The Redemptionists and the House Cawdor gangers all have hoods and would be a better scale than the Gondorian Rangers. They are all metal so it won't be a cheap option tho.

    They can work

    Hay,
The rangers aren't separate but if you saw them off and trim down the access, (which is very litte depending on which head you used) then fill in a tiny bit with green-stuff then it works, I'll try and get a picture of it soon (the model is now in Leamington Spa store, being judge for the Kill team battles) sorry.

Thanks for all the tips and info. Im just gonna use the greenstuff method cause that sounds like it will work the best and probably be cheaper. I'll Post pics on how the first model comes out. Thanks again!
