    Fantastic Model, odd weapon combo

Wood Elf Lord with Sword and Spear | Games Workshop

I think that is a fantastic looking model and really want to get it and do something with it. It's female (reoccurring theme in my army it seems), I love the face and pose, but I don't know what to do with it. It's the spear that throws me off. I think it could make for a good alter with that sword, which would mean I need to get a shield on there, but that spear is in the way. I can't say for sure, but it looks like it's either one solid model, or the sword arm needs to be attached (more likely), neither of which would make it any easier. Looking at it, I wonder if it would be possible to put a bow in the spear hand, possibly bend it into shape.

    What do you guys think?

I think you're out of luck. It looks like the cape drapes over and takes the shape of the spear. If you do decide to remove/alter the spear, resculpting the cape will be needed.

As for the model's bits, either the sword arm or the horns are separate. Probably the arm.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.

You could try making the spear in to a banner and have it as a BSB or maybe you could stick a shield on it's back and say the spear is just for show?

Stupid internet eating my post, if this turns into a double I'm sorry.

The devil is in the details and GW did a really good job with this one. The cape is an issue, which puts a damper on some plans, and I while a banner would be pretty simple, I don't use a BSB at this point, so it would be worthless. The shield on the back is a good idea and should work in theory. What if I took the blade of the sword from the crosgaurd up and replaced it with the spear head from about where it starts touching the cloak? I think it could pass as either a long greatweapon or a viscious spear. Then I could clean up the remaining part of the sword and fashion a bow from one of the fancier bows from the glade gaurd sprues. What do you think?
