Default Necromunda Gang Idea

Seeing as my friend wants me to play this game, but seeing as I don't want to spend 100+$ on redemptionist he came up with this idea that he'd come up with an gang list for my tau. Personally seeing as he could screw me over, that's no fun for me. While sitting in my boring science class today I randomly wrote a list idea.

Just for fluff and what not, this was created with the idea that my Tau had fought the planetary battles already and sent a team down into the underhive to see if they couldn't find anyone to join their ranks.

Ethereal: 80pts
WS4 BS3 S3 T3 W3 I4 A3 LD8 SV4+ M4
If models are within LOS of the Ethereal they may reroll morale checks, etc.

Bodyguards 3-5: 60pts
WS3 BS4 S3 T3 W1 I2 A2 LD6 SV4+ M4

Battlesuit: 150pts
WS3 BS3 S4 T5 W2 I2 A2 LD6 SV3+ M6

StealthSuit: 60pts
WS3 BS3 S4 T4 W1 I2 A1 LD6 SV3+ M6

Fire Warriors: 30pts
WS3 BS3 S3 T3 W1 I2 A1 LD5 SV4+ M4

Gun Drones: 25pts
WS3 BS3 S3 T3 W1 I2 A1 LD6 SV4+ M6

Battlesuits and Crisis Suits benefit from all the rules in the Tau codex that can be applied to necromunda.

Burst cannon: 20pts
Assault 3 Str3 AP- 18"

Plasma Rifle: 40pts
Rapid fire Str5 AP2 24"

Fusion Blaster: 50pts
Assault 1 Str8 AP1 12"

Cyclic Ion Blaster: 90pts
Assault 5 Str3 AP- 18"
Rolls to wound of 6 count as AP4

Multitracker: 20pts
Allows battlesuit to fire 2 weapons

Infantry:

Pulse Carbines: 20pts
Assault 1 Str3 AP- 18"

Pulse Rifles: 30pts
Heavy, Rapid Fire Str5 AP5 30"

CC Weapons [Ethereal Only]:
2 Hand Weapons: 10pts
+1 Attack

Honour Staff: 20pts
+2 Str

Grenades:

Photon Grenades: 20pts
Denies bonus attacks to charging models

EMP Grenades: 30pts
Short circuits weapons, blast 3"

Sorry, not much of a number cruncher, but the dea sounds great, sounds like heaps of fun, and I'd love to see the same done for a few other 40k armies.

In the "New" LO chat, me and pestigor were talking about possible things and ways that Tau could get into the underhive and live/prosper, here's what we came up with.

well anyways, back to the original topic of a tau "gang"
<Pestigor> I hased zombehs
<Pestigor> the question is of course... how did they get there, what are they doing there, why dosn't the inquisition/other assorted Imperial bodies know they are there.

<Pathofskulls> is there no surface to the planet?
<Pestigor> the spires at the very top of the city are the surface

<Pathofskulls> then tau is exploring... maybe i should just send in pathfinders, stealths and drones..

<Pestigor> have your tau there for political reasons
<Pestigor> trying to cause an upriseing
<Kiradia> the tau could be investigating more about the Warp and the so called "Chaos Gods" that the gue'la speak of
<Kiradia> sort of a continuation of Medusa V, now that they understand more of what the Warp really is, they want to learn how to fight it

<Pestigor> that way you would have an excuse as to why the Etherials presance is hidden
<Pestigor> the humans could do all the leg work with the Etherial leading from the shadows
<Pestigor> you would of COURSE have tau technology... The tau would be trying to convince humans of the advantages of tech
<Pathofskulls> hmm... so like one ethereal, 4ish fire warriors, and a bunch of guesava or whatever they are
<Pestigor> it would explain where you get your new gang members from

<Pestigor> would give them a logical reason for being there too... the Tau are always trying to cause trouble on Imperial worlds
<Pestigor> helps loosen the Imperiams grip on the world
<Pestigor> infact as its necromunda you could maybe go so far as to have an Earth Cast worker building/controling and repairing your drones.
<Pathofskulls> oooh a couple of Shas'ui's as like leaders with gun drones for data collection/protection, and then a bunch of humans, and some earth cast worker in the background with the ethereal and his bodyguard, who aren't included in the actual list/fighting, just the fluff

<Pestigor> I remember a short gangster story once set in the 40k universe... the Don had managed to get hold of a poop load of Shuriken catapults from a dodgy rogue trader

<Pathofskulls> shas'ui with a pulse rifle, then the 4 drones, uhm 2-4 humans with pulse rifles, 4-8 with pulse carbines, and the rest with lasguns
<Pestigor> would look pretty good
<Pestigor> maybe play them like a Van'Sar gang....nice techno skills (the humans would be less fearful of technology what with hanging around the tau)
<Pathofskulls> the new gangers can't think of the names would have lasguns/standard weapons, and then the next level up has the carbines, some guys upgrade to rifles and some stick with what they got, and then some can still take flamers, grenade launchers, etc
<Pestigor> if you need more Tau weapons maybe have a chart with something like "on a roll of 6 the Rogue Trader who smuggled in the Tau envoy can get his hands on a Tau weapon and will sell it for 4d6 X 5 (as an example) creds"
<Pestigor> or have the weapon cost as the amount of money the rogue trader wants in order to bring the weapon to you gang
<Pestigor> if that makes sense
<Pathofskulls> red doesn't make sense but white does
<Pestigor> only your human gangers would be able to go to town and work the lands they capture, the tau would be busy doing other stuff I guess (like not being seen)
<Pestigor> I guess Tau could work in Necromunda with a little sideways thinking


I realize its a lot of reading, but its got some good points in it.

I heard on the grapevine that the Spyrer suits are heavily insinuated as being of Tau origin - that';s the route I actually thought you'd be taking. Have a surf on google and see what pops up.


However, as with most retconned fluff, this made a few people go into apopleptic fits...

So with that thought in mind, as pestigor put it.

An undercover Ethereal along with a team of fire warriors managed to find a rogue trader and get past port to the underhive. Enough supplies were brought that they'd be able to give recruits weapons to supply them for a while. Drones were also brought to accompany those who went into the underhive. Upon initially getting there they found a willing group of men to join the greater good, further deciding that they could get more recruits, a team made mostly of men headed into the underhive.

[Obviously the fluff needs to be further expanded, but right now its trying to get the list right.]

Someone else can rethink the points if they want to. But it makes a lot more sense now, and ought to be more balanced. I know I'd have to put in more stuff, but that's the most I can think of right now.
