    [1500] Necron {anti-Space Marine}

I wanted to come up with the best list possible, with my available units, to counter the ever populous Space Marine forces. Plz Critique.

    HQ:
Lord: Res. Orb, Veil of Darkness

    Elites:
    Immortals x9

    Troops:
    Warriors x15
    Warriors x14

    Fast Attack:
    Scarabs x8

    Heavy Support:
    Monolith x1
    Heavy Destroyer x2
    Heavy Destroyer x1

General thoughts: I tried to avoid the usual trap of regualar Destroyers against SM but I think the best mobility then offered is the Veil and the Monolith teleport. Anyway, tell me your thoughts.

I like the lord, I like the immortals, i personally hate monoliths i think we necron players abuse them. so i would drop the monlith, make each heavy destroyer a unit of 1 and i would buy a lot more warriors and some normal destroyers. hope that helps

I've never been one to put an Orb and the Veil on the same Lord. If you're uning one correctly, you never need the other. (You can re-coup those points in return for more Warriors)

The Immortals are a good choice against Space Marines.

Simply put, I wouldn't say you had adequate numbers of Warriors.

The Monolith is a good choice, as it will give the Space Marine player something to shoot at for a long while while you destroy at his important units. At 1,500 points, it's hardly over-powered. There will be sufficient anti-armor capability in the opposing player's list.

Speaking of destroying, I cannot agree with the choise of three Heavy Destroyers. The Monolith has a very nice low-AP punch and the Heavy Destroyer rarely makes his points back. I think you would be better served by turning them into regular Destroyers, or dropping them entirely in favor of more Warriors, even.

I've always found that a warscythe-packing destroyer lord with a phase shifter with a trio of wraiths and some scarabs (at least 5 bases) will eat marine Tac squads for lunch. So long as the scarabs are there you're fine. You'll slam into his line and throw 5-6 wounds with the wraiths on init 6 killing 2-3 marines, and the warscythe the lord 's carrying will guarantee another 2 kills or so.

While he goes at the same time as the lord, the impact of the wraiths plus the lord cutting marines in half will get the marine player to go after the scarabs to blunt their assault and not lose combat while heavily outnumbered (low WS and low STR won't mean much when you're tossing upwards of 30 dice...you're bound to kill something). The scarabs are fearless, so even if he rolls like a god and whips the hell out of them...you don't care. If he makes it OTOH...it'll be leadership time!

I don't know why, but I've always found the the secret to killing non-termie marines was Necron CC...wierd huh?

If the Space Marine player is using Terminators, I'd fit some pariahs in somehow, personally. Keep in mind I haven't been playing for very long. Pariahs, I'm told, are quite good Terminator killers. Not to mention that Warscythes in general are quite good, and Pariahs not only have Warscythes, they have Gauss Blasters, too.
