im so tired about my usual shooty necron army so i bought a couple of flayed ones and this is what my first CC influenced armylist looks like: 1700 Pts - Necrons Army 1 Necron Lord (HQ) @ 140 Pts Staff of Light Resurrection Orb 1 Necron Lord (HQ) @ 210 Pts WarScythe Destroyer Body Phylactery Phase Shifter Gaze of Flame Chronometron 11 Warriors (Troops) @ 198 Pts Gauss Flayer 11 Warriors (Troops) @ 198 Pts Gauss Flayer 10 Flayed Ones (Elites) @ 180 Pts Claws 9 Scarabs (Fast Attack) @ 108 Pts 3 Wraiths (Fast Attack) @ 123 Pts Claws 5 Destroyers (Fast Attack) @ 250 Pts Gauss Cannon 1 Monolith (Heavy Support) @ 235 Pts Gauss Flux Arc; Particle Whip #Power Matrix [0] 1 Tomb Spyder (Heavy Support) @ 55 Pts Claws Necrons: 42 Phase Out at: 10 Models in Army: 53 any thoughts? i think it'll be great. flayed ones, scarabs, a lord and some wraiths charging for cc. and a little support from the destoyers and the monolith. and another lord with a res orb down by the warriors. i think this army will be a great success (haven't used it in action as of yet) |

A few things: 1) IIRC, the Chronometron is useless with the Destroyer Body because you're already pursuing 3D6. If I'm wrong please excuse me. 2) One squad of 3 wraiths won't last long unless you have a lot of cover to hide behind on the way to enemy lines. Your opponent will kill them with massed fire. 3) If you really want CC drop a couple Destroyers for more Flayed Ones. Or better yet, give the non DB Lord a Veil of Darkness to teleport the Flayed Ones closer to the enemy. |

1) the codex says i gets to roll another d6 and discard the lowest one. that would mean that i roll 4d6 and discard one. at least i think so, the codex says nothing about the db disabling the chronometron effect. 2) yeah i know, the wraiths are really weak, i'll have to keep them behind cover until they can charge to cc. maybe i'll keep them covered with the lord on db. 3) i just bought 10 flayed ones im not made out of money. anyways if i like the cc side of the necrons i might buy some more flayed ones. and i think i need the destroyers as support. but if i get some more flayed ones i guess i'll drop some of them. i want to keep the res orb with my warriors and destroyers. but perhaps i'll give the veil of darkness a try in some battle, it might come in handy.thanks for your thoughts | |

I would suggest dropping one of the lords and adding another squad of Wraiths. I have a 50/50 hth and shooting army of Necrons and it is really effective. The key to to keep your destroyers (and maybe one heavy) and immortals for shooting. Then add a few tomb spyders, a few squads of wraiths, a squad of flayed ones, and one tricked out hth lord (I like res orb/dest body/phase shift/war scythe). The wraiths are amazing against Marines and can easily stay out of sight if you shield them with warriors until you can run into a wooded area or something. Tomb spyders are also great since they are one of the few necrons that doesn't give people their saves (except inv). Pariah aren't really worth the points since they usually go down before they swing and are just too expensive. If you build it right you can really catch people off guard since most armies try to get into hth fast with Necrons. I wiped out an army of space wolves last week. Boy was he suprised when he started getting owned in hth... |

![]() i don't really like the wraiths that much, they die all to easy. a total of 3 wounds with toughness 4 for 123 pts. thats not much for your pts. and i don't really like the wraith models either so buying more is out of the question as for now. T10> thanks it's not really finished yet though. i think i'll make a few changes.
