Hi. I'm wondering if anybody can tell me the diameter of the green plastic rods that the Necrons come with. I've found a company (Plastruct) that has got clear plastic rod in different colors and sizes. I'm thinking of exchanging the standard green rods with red ones.

Has anybody any experience with doing this?

Sorry, PeterWelzien, I don't have the exact size here... Though I must warn you, you probably won't find a substitute for the Monolith Crystal/Particle Whip...

I was thinking about this as well, and it would look very cool.. It's just that I want to have the crystal the same way as the rest!

Well, I'm not planning to use the Monolith, so that's not going to be a problem. Although I personally think that the portal in the Monolith would be much harder to find a substitute for.

Maybe you could create a mold of the crystal and door and make your own with colored resin? Just a thought.

One word, SHARPIE! Great for changing the color of the Monolith's irreplacable portal and crystal. The ink goes on transparent....

actually, for the Crystal and the Gate, making a mold could work quite well.

Check out this site for tutorials on how to make molds.

Someone already did this, found it when I was searching for examples of painted necrons. I believe he mentioned the same site also. If I remember correct it was 3/32. He used blue ones, and said 1 plastic rod (however long it was), was good for like 10 or so warriors.

That's ~2.4 mm. Can anybody confirm that?

Throw away that monolith crystal. If it was a solid chunk of clear plastic like in the codex I'd consider keeping it. Instead, find a new-age healing shop and buy a proper crystal about the right size. If it doesn't fit the mounting can always be altered.

Well, I don't own any necrons yet. But I guess I'll just buy some and hope that I can find a suitiable rod.
