Tell him that the necrons can take a hit from the most powerful gun in the game and still has a chance to shrug it off.

Also, Necrons probably has two of the biggest baddest HQs in the game (Deceiver/Nightbringer)

Tell them that their ultimate goal in the universe is to let the galaxy burn while harvesting all the bodies they can.

Necrons have a large community of power gamers, newbs who want fast routes to winning, those who don't like painting, don't want to utilize much creativity on the battle field or especially with their army lists, or like shiny skeletons.

The necron army list leaves very little room for creativity or multiple different effective tactics, however with the sheer power of their units for such low point cost for what they do, they easily destroy other gamers of low experience. However, since they don't leave much room for improvements or learning new strategies, they end up getting trounced by veteran players.

Some of you necron players may see this as an insult, but ask yourselves... is it not true? The above descriptions may not be true specifically to you, but how many other necron players have some of the above traits?..

HMMM how many Rokkit's do you have.....
Anyway, Powergaming.....is total BS and I don't mean ballistic skill. Necrons lose just like any other army. It is not my fault if every moron that see's the 'lith want to waste two rounds of shooting. Even so called "veteran players" shoot the poo out of it while they should be hitting the warriors. Necrons have few choices...so what. They get the job done. It isn't any different than DE. They have more choices but it is better to take the few good options...so you see the same army over and over....or when was the last time you saw an eldar army that was not ulthgarbage.
Necrons are a great army for any skill level. I think they won Atlanta this year. I guess only newbs showed up for the tourney. Read the fluff. Look at the models. Experiment with a few games.
BTW....Losers always cry about broken or cheesy lists and I only own one monlith.
Remember, even if you are newb....it does not mean you don't have the right to want to win.

Well I have a Marine army but my next army in mind was necrons, they seem to be a good challenge for creative conversions :shifty: I say go with necrons marines are being overused, especially lately ( with all those new releases...
Sure necrons can be bland but thats only if you let them be, if you wish for diversity, they have just as much variety as an ork or tyr army.
    Also about the monolith
they rule, full stop. Even when I go up against one I can't help but find the crushing of my units so awesome, IT's A SLAB OF STONE THATS COME TO CRUSH ALL, what in that phrase about the monolith is not completely outstanding and rocking XP

Can you name me a single army in this game that can't be min/maxed and cheesed out by powergamers?

Granted, Necrons armies are nerfed a bit in army comp (We've only got 1 Troops choice and 1 normal HQ choice. Our cheapest army comp is 460 points) and often you do see a lot of similar lists, but just like any other army as you get used to the strengths and weaknesses you start to expand and try different tactics.

And your assertation that Necrons are easily beaten by veteran players is completely wrong. They are no better or worse than any other army in the game (well, that's not true, they're better than Eldar...take that jerks ). Necrons did win Atlanta, by a poster on these boards no less.

Frankly, I do find your post a bit insulting, but I'll chalk that up to you never having had the pleasure of playing a normal Necron player and I feel bad you are stuck playing newbie powergamers.

And as for your painting comment, since Necrons are one of the easiest armies to paint (you can get away with black basecoat and silver drybrushing for the whole army if you really wanted to) I see more Necron forces fully painted than any other army I've ever faced.
