Hello,

I will testplay the new Chaos Codes this Staurday. My opponent will most likey be a very experienced Eldar player and I would like some comments on my list.

The key to victory will most likely be disabling his key units. wich will be:
- A full troop of Harlequins with everything they can get (including VoT etc).
- Warpsiders wich he will advance, rapid fire and move back in the assault phase.
- His seer council.
- His special character that allows him to force enemy psykers to use 3D6 and pick the two highest.

My problem is matching his FoF and his Falcon and overall maneuverability. I would like to field a mobile armie to match his movement, maybe assault his weaker flank.

The following list is work in progress, just an idea I have so far. Maybe someone has a good idea on what to include against Eldar?

HQ:
- 1x Sorcerer, Wings, MoS, LoS (goes with Raptors)
- 1x Sorcer, T-Armor, MoT, Warptime + WoC (joins Termies in Landraider)
- 1x Greater Demon (special suprise wherever it s needed)

Fast:
- Raptors with Champ (on flank with the sorcerer and the chosen)

Elite:
- Chosen with 2x Plasma (inflitrate a flank, should be close to raptors)
- 4x Termies, MoK in Landraider (center deplayoment)

Standard:
- Standard CSM with Champ (no fist) in Rhino (go with LR)
- Standard CSM with Champ (no fist) in Rhino (go with LR)

Support:
- 2x Oblits (provide much needed AniTank)
- 1x Defiler (can maybe eat an avatar)
- Havocs with HB (Eldars hate Heavy Bolters)

Thank you for your time and help ;)

Hollie, can you be a little more specific with your units- i.e., squad count, point costs, are there special weapons in any of the basic marine squads?

As it stands, your lists looks to be torn up pretty bad by the Eldar player, but we can do something about that with a few tweaks. :)

Hello, I had the game this weekend and it was a complete draw. We both had about 450 pts left standing out of our 2000 pts ;)

I will have to dig up my list and will try to write a battle report about it later on.

The problem I really have now are my standard squads (I try to have one third of all my points in Standards)... 10 CSM with GoC, 2x Plasma, a Champ with PF and a Rhino are 265 Points... ouch. It will be difficult for them to even get their points back.

I would be interested in seeing what you all use as your army backbone.

I agree with Rabbit and to be quite honest, if your opponent takees wargear that makes it hard for you to cast psychic powers then why take any sorcerers at all? A chaos lord with movement modifier and daemon weapon can really ruin an eldar general's day...

One point of the battle was to get to know the new units, not to make it the most effective list.

I wanted to see what happens if I take a sorcerer and face the worst thing it can face ;) i now have a pretty good idea about what I would need to field to give him trouble.

I will try to write a battle report today about this match.

Depending on how you roll and what fire power you're up against plague marines can soak up some real fire power. I stick with 6 or 8 man squads with 2x plasma and a champ with a p. fist. Takes some time to take them down cuz of the 5 T, then the 3+ armor save, and then the 4+ FNP. O... and if you're scratched by that damned starcannon you still get the FNP since it isn't instant killing.

Great example was a recent battle with an experienced eldar friend of mine. My marines got rushed by about 8 banshees and thanks to him needing the 4+ to hit, 6+ to wound it was a pain taking them down with those power wpns. Thankfully they weren't doomed or else it would have been another story. But this one came out with 7 plague marines dying, but the champ p. fisting all the banshees to death.

Defiler is a good choice... that is if you're decently lucky. I know I punched some nice holes by landing 4/6 ordinances. This can be even more devestating if you lash a unit, move them either closer to your troops ( if you want to assualt them ) or move them away, but pack them real close together, then blast them away.

Hm, LoS says "moved by the Chaos player", but it doesn´t mention if you are allowed to change their formation. Are you sure I can take them and really compress them to one nice bundle after moving them?

If so, that would be very mean, as I am pretty sure no one would like to leave his heavies bunched up like this, meaning he would have to move them again wich will cost him another round of shooting.

How I interpret it is I can move every model in the unit that many inches. So what I do is move them all that many or less into a nice circle. Then... if you're lucky BAM! Pie plate of doom. The only risk is since you are compressing them if you miss and move more than 2 in. you might not hit anything. Which isn't the case when they're spread out.

It's a gamble.... but man can it pay off.
