Wow. The new daemonettes really ARE a means to make me not want to collect slaanesh.

And more than that - if these new minatures phase out the current metal range of demonettes, it will be a loss worse than any other that has befallen the hobby yet.

I was browsing over on warseer rumours just before (yes, I know, at least I'm not a full traitor as I don't actually have an account over there :) ), when I saw a thread on some new chaos demons - Juggernaut, bloodletters and daemonettes .

The Juggernaut was pretty good, not sure about the bloodletters, but I am sure about the daemonettes. They really, really, really stink. I was thinking about collecting a warhammer fantasy chaos army, lots of demons (slaanesh and tzeentch), but now I'm not so sure...

P.S I hope this hasn't already been talked about at length here. I'm tired and didn't bother searching the forum for similar posts - for which I apologise! :)

That is one reason why I think they went for the corsets. I think these models look nice. Yea, their faces look a bit more human, but with the right paint I think they can look really good. I like the definition of the model. Yes, the old ones were nice, but I dont blame them for phasing out the nakey ones.

Hmm, Those models really do stink. They're WAY too static to be nimble Daemonettes, and I absolutely hate the two with the mohawks, they just look plain dumb. The corsets aren't bad, but I feel that they've become much too human in their face and torso. They're quite boring really...

what a load of crapolla!!!!!!!

1. Human looking heads?? THEY ARE DEAMONS!!! the previous ones had that humanesqe thing going on, far better.

2.Crab claws?? how is a crab claw a sensual impliment of death? the razor edged arms of the previous ones are so much more in theme with slaanesh

3.I think that there should be one brest exposed on each deamonette, it is one of slaaneshes main traits

4. Why all female? there should be some more masculine ones too, Slaneesh can appear as male, female or both.

Bad Bad move GW.

I agree the older - or should i say "classic" (read 'more expensive') ones are definitely much better - these ones look like groupies at a Duran Duran concert.

Not to concerned about the missing nipples as that just begs for conversion.

Interesting that they have command group.

I collect Cult of Slaanesh and Slaanesh Chaos so i definitely am interested in what they do slaanesh-wise, but NO ONE USES DAEMONETTES ON FOOT anyways so who cares!

They look so... robotic. I don't think it looks like the sculptor enjoyed the assignment.

Daemonettes are supposed to be horridly alluring and sensual, not robot chickens with hottie torsos. Seriously, adding corsets and breasts a chicken-crab is not the correct feel. They seem more like Tzeench...

And the middle one looks like a merfolk.

This makes me glad I own 4 boxes of the current line.

The first thing I thought was, "why do they have duck feet?!"

I always liked the idea of more human looking daemonettes as they seemed more 'alluring' but these don't look too great to me.

Also, why would they put their own hands on their standard?

We'll see.

I have to agree with the general sentiment here, these models arent all that good. No more boobs, too human-ey, too punkey, wtf, mohawks? I have the REALLY old ones, which have the giant crab arms... they are cooler than these....

More proof gw is just trying to get the child market...

I'm probably going to buy a box of these, some of the old ones, and do some conversions. I think they'd be fine after I take my clippers, some sandpaper, and some green stuff to them.

And yes, models should be fine out of the box, but I can't leave any model alone. They'll probably be used more for converting others, but I'll probably do a few as daemonettes just to see what I can do. The best thing I can say about them is that they're plastic, and I find that a lot easier to play with.

#17 ·
They do look a little more robotic than our older ones. However, they're larger, and that's much to their credit. The older ones were so small and dainty. I like the exaggerated extended feet (if that's what called); it's more noticeable.

I actually think these look more human than the older ones. For one thing, they're wearing corsets- indicative of human females. For another, they only have two breasts. Their heads are also more humanistic, whereas the ones from 3rd edition looked more like aliens...perhaps daemons.

#18 ·
hmmm, well at least they're going to be cheaper in plastic.

And they should offer plenty of conversion, I see a few noise marines with daemonette heads on them, and as previously stated maybe even some tau with daemonette heads.

Lack of nudity isn't really a problem to me...it dettered a fair few people from Slaanesh and my parents probably would have had a fit with me versing my little brother with them.

I think with the right paint job these ones will look fine, just got to find the right colours and where to put the pink.

i dont really think its good that they are bigger, the deamonettes are supposed to be slender beings, plus, Corset? Scince when did a deamon take to modesty and decide to whear clothes? (other than the obvious armour) the whole point is that they are unnaturaly alluring from thewarp, not that they just dress up all tarty! before you know it were going to be seeing bllodletters in kilts!!!

Aye, but they're called Gordon Highlanders (and I don't think GW make them in 28mm!)

I think these Daemonettes may have been designed as a reference to the earlier Daemonettes, the ones back from the day when Tzeentch's Pink Horrors looked like goofy heads with freaky hands and feet coming out of them, when Nurgle's Plaguebearers looked like skinny undead Orcs and Khorne's Bloodthirsters carried swords. Not exactly a good thing, but at least the claws look better and they're not bald- not to mention they avoided the whole mono-breasted thing. I gotta say I preferred the most recent ones, they just seem more... right. Not to mention that fleshy tendrils instead of hair makes more sense on a demon of lust and perversity.

Also, does any one notice that they have a standard bearer and a musician, nd that the background (other than that vehicle-thing) implies they're for Warhammer Fantasy? Anyone think that a new Chaos army book for fantasy might be in the works?

For many of the reasons listed above, I do not agree with these models. Seems like GW is taming their models, and making them look worse. The old ones were so quasi-human, but still seemed like enough of an "objectification" of the female form as not to be real. The feet.... ick. How are you supposed to dance around silly Mordians with those clumsy things? They'd be more uncoordinated than I am. And the claw arms look too big and bulky... if they were somewhat more slender, I'd be fine with the altered shape. The faces are too human. The clothes deny their obscenity, which is what Chaos, specifically Slaanesh, is.

And I swear to God, if anyone accuses me of being a pervert for wanting naked models, I'll toast them over an open flame. :)

This is Chaos. Chaos models are supposed to push the boundary of what is acceptable, if by their appearance, wanton slaughterdom, or... showing a little skin.

With conversion, they'd be fine.

And female Space Marines are fine... if Chaos is involved. Don't get offended, just how I interpret the canon.

I'm gonna have to buy some more of the metal ones before they are replaced.

I like these new models, but they just don't feel the same, they are less.... daemonic. Those figures I would like to use for other creations, like using the heads for regular Chaos Marines, and bodies for assorted other odd creations I think of. I could think of a thousand crazy custom heroines that could use those parts! :D

im going to get some of the old ones just in case i do slanessh, i dont intend to yet but i want the old ones incase!!!

And i allso cry out for semi anked slanesshi, its how they are ment to be!

Oh what have they done to them! They look like kroot who have fed on tau and crab meat.

Im very glad i have 30 of the old ones in my possesion.

I guess a few pieces of them would be useful but i would rather sculpt my own than buy those.

They would have been better to make the old ones plastic but make them taller and in more agile poses.

I really dont see how anything could find them alluring, even with their daemonic wiles.

I totally agree with Imperialis_Dominatus. They need some nakedness. I second toasting of pervert accusers.

Oh god...They really screwed up here, they look horrible. HORRIBLE. Might just have to buy the forgeworld KoS just to remember the old daemonettes by, 'cause thats one hell of a nice model . I agree though, they do have a resemblance to tau...why would daemons look like tau... it just makes no sense :0. Im just wondering what theyre gonna do to the khorne daemons, and if they intend to screw up *cough* I mean update the greater daemon models, because the metal KoS looks REALLY bad...

Do you see it!? It all makes sense now! Tau ARE Dæmons! It all fits! :p

Ugh...I can see why some would say they resemble the old ones, but why would you like the old ones in the first place? I don't know, I guess I just am predisposed towards the thought of graceful and sexy chicks...that want to kill you. Elegent death is quite entrancing.

I've never been much for slaanesh, but this makes me want to add to my measly one box of the current dæmonettes...very soon.

@ the so-called bloodletters:
That sword would make one hell of a cool dæmon weapon! Freaking sweet! *Imagines a pitch black sword with glowing blue runes on it...*/insanitygasm

Well I must be the only one around that actually really likes these models and am looking at buying lots of them. If there are any long time players that have the realms of chaos books, have a read through slaves of darkness and look at all the daemonette imagery, these models fit the bill perfectly and there are phrases in there that say that they are repulsively attractive.

I cant wait until I can get my hands on some and hope that give good treatment to mounted daemonettes as well
