Eh my favorite color is green, one of the many reasons I was drawn to WE. Though I do think the Autumn theme looks pretty sweet, I went for as much green/shades of green as I could. I've been throwing in some red as the an army's color, for banners and such. (I have pics already in the showcase and will try to get some more up as I get around to it)
I dont collect Wood Elves myself but I have a few friends who does. One of them are going with a very...brownish color, throughout his entire army. And I must say, that i looks very artistic. So thats why I've choosen Autumn.
Man it's all about the Autumn collor scheme! I can get reds, oranges, yellows, greens and browns in... and that's just the leaves!!! I really like the Wood Elf models when they are bright and colorfull!
I use a mix of Reds, Browns, Greens and anything else I deem appropriate. It looks "Wood-elvesy" and is personalised. Unfortunately, I've decided that it's officially no fun to paint Glade Guard (too much cloth and it comes in too any different shades).
Once i am finished getting all my models i think i am going to get out of the season paint and do a black midnight blueish color scheme made for a attack posed at night but if i change my mind and go seasonal i think i would have to go with winter.
I started with a winter theme, and figured it'd be pretty cool. But I'd always been attracted to the dark, terroristic side of the Wood Elves (yeah, that's what I said: they attack from hiding, slaughter everything that approaches without mercy, and then slip away. and every spring they assault the poor bretonnians 'just for the fun of it')
So I decided that I wanted some 'darkside WE'. I painted mine in blacks and reds and greys to make them look like a burnt forest. Partially insane, no trees except dryads= DON'T BURN THE &**$ TREES YOU STUNTY!
Oh i will post pictures i love every aspect of this game thus far. So i will most certianly putting some time into it. And i will be more than happy to show you all now just to get my hands on that battalion box rawr....
I have been following this pole and well it has been very surprising to me. I expected to see a vast majority of armies painted in Spring since that is what the majority of the pictures in the book show. I'm glad to see such a spread!
It surprises me that the armies are actually painted mostly spring in the book. After reading the lore and stuff I would think winter would be more popular in the book since in the lore thats when they had to defend the forest the most. I dunno i guess everyone just likes there greens at GW.
But most of the trees came to the battle in the Winter of Woe didn't they i dunno i will have to reread it. But i think the only who is sleeping beyond awakening is Areil the others can come too but it takes a lil bit. Even than too Areil can come to in dire situations they are all a bunch of fakers they can come back whenever they want i say :rofl
I would love to go wit ha winter scheme, but i am not that great of a painter. I will be going with an autumn scheme. I have the colors and ability to pull it off. As soon as I get more of my army built I will start painting it. Question, has any one painted Orion in autumn or winter colors?
I can't imagine them working tbh. Fluff-wise he should be getting ready for his long nap or sleeping. Colour-wise, I can't see it being terribly exiting. I think Reds would be too bold while whites are too dull.
But most of the trees came to the battle in the Winter of Woe didn't they
Wasn't that the spring though? When the winter was finished, the trees came to life and the Orcs got their butts kicked because they were all refreshed and all.
Well, the autumn theme drew me to wood elves so naturally i painted them so.I cant remember what paints i used and dont have them off hand so there is my 2 cents.
How would one go about painting an autumn? Would one use single colors on sections(ie boots one color) or would you go with a camouflage pattern(ie mulit-color boots)? Thank you for your advice.
Well when I first saw the new models I was determined to paint them in a winter theme but when I saw the cover art on the book I just knew I had to paint them in greens and yellows. So mine are spring/summer.
Also as I really like the Orion model and use him regularly this also fits together well with the fluff of him just awakening.
i started painting my wood elves winter themed but after a long break with no minis or paints i decided to do a Native American themed wood elf army. Really earthy looking with bright blues for details.
