This is the army i'm planning on taking to a tourney at the end of this month, trying to make it powerful yet have obvious flaws, after all, it's the Australian 40k scene and people like to whine.

HQ:

I use Daemon princes for mobile scoring units that can dish out some pain in close combat. Lash will help get units like the berserkers into combat, plus a variety of other roles to irritate people. The mark of Nurgle is to be nice to people and not take a 2nd lash, plus a t6 monstrous creature is a tough creature to take down, will likely spend most of the game involved in close combat or used as a line of sight blocker for scoring units if theres things like battlecannons on the field.

Daemon Prince w wings, mark of Slaanesh and Lash of submission

Daemon Prince w wings, mark of Nurgle and doombolt.

Elites:

Terminators are there as a strike force/flanking unit. I'll be deepstriking them in nearly every game, generally to hold a flank up and sometimes to take an objective.

6 man Terminator squad w Reaper Autocannon, Icon of Slaanesh, 1 champion, 1 chainfist.

Troops:

Trying to have a Breach force type theme, large squads with mainly close range weaponry and icons of khorne for the sheer brutality. Each squad is capable of counter attacking on its own and should be able to dish out quite some damage.

12 man squad of Marines w Icon of Khorne, lascannon, plasma gun.

12 man squad of Marines w Icon of Khorne, 2 * plasma guns, Asp champ with powerfist

8 man squad of Berserkers w Asp champ with Powerfist.

Heavy Support:

Heavy support in the new dex, so many choices so little slots :/. I've been using this combination for a while now am i'm quite a fan.

3 man squad of Obliterators

Predator with Autocannon, Heavy bolter sponsons and extra armour.

Predator with Autocannon, Heavy bolter sponsons and extra armour.

Total comes to 1748 points.

Any thoughts ?

I just recently started playing chaos so I hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong on something.....

In the few games I've played so far I'm not a huge fan of lascannons unless they are in havoc squads, or any heavy weapons for that matter They can be spendy and in a normal squad if you wanna shoot it you won't be able to move, but it all probably comes down to personal preference. I like to take meltaguns most of the time. So if it were me I would take out the termie champ, lascannon, and pf off the zerker champion. This will free up 55 pts. I would then take an AC with a combi-melta and a melta gun in the marine squad and give the zerker AC a reg power weapon(this way he gets advantage of furious charge). This will leave you 5pts if i added correctly so you can give something meltabombs if you want.

but like i said i only started playing chaos so i could be way off lol

Whilst the berserker champ does get use out of a power weapon with furious charge, i still prefer wounding pretty much everything in the game on 2's and wraithlords on 3's when i charge, i think i'll stick with the powerfist there.

As to why i have a lascannon in the champion free squad, its there as a counter measure, i don't use it nor do i plan on using it much, but in the occasional game 1 extra high strength shot from afar can be quite handy. He still keeps his bolt pistol so is still a viable model for cc etc. After all, just because you have a lascannon in a squad, doesn't mean you have to use it.

The lack of an asp champ in that squad is there to limit the power of the list :/. People will think it friendlier if i do that. But at the same time the squad is quite capable of defending itself vs light infantry as is, 3 attacks each as a base is nothing to sneeze at.
