Some house rules I might try sometime involving flayed ones and wraiths.

Since one of my favourite units right from the start of collecting necrons were flayed ones and wraiths I naturaly bought some and after a few games I learned that flayed ones against most armys are slow and ineffective and just take up 1 elite sqaud that I could use for immortals. Wraiths are still viable now but against alot of MEQ armies they dont stand a chance, and like I said it just takes up a FA slot which means less destroyers and scarab swarms.
But I was thinking that for extra points flayed ones would have rending attacks and be moved to the troops catagory , and that wraiths would be given power weapons and remain in the fast attack catagory.
Also pariahs could maybe be given a better save maybe 2+ and a 4+ inv and moved to the HQ slot where you could be given the option to add them as a retinue for the necron lord.

I think it's great that you want to use those more 'rarer' units in the cron codex. But if I'm to be honest, your proposed changes are probably overpowered, unless you REALLY want to increase the cost for each of the models.

When writing rules and including house rules... even though it's tempting to just pump up your favourite army (hey, I'm a necron player too!) it'll often just lead to weird situations where you realise that they're far too good.

But seriously.. for a flayed one to get rending to his standard profile, I'd say a points costs of at least 26 points plus.

You are quite right about necrons not being cheap.. however, they're not as super elite as Marines or Eldar... remember the whole 'we are legion' thing.

Also bear in mind that phase out really potentially hurts us too. And even with more powerful uber troops, you'll have much less models to work with, which in turn makes it a lot easier to phase you out.

I hate it to seem that I'm attacking you pointlessly, so, I'd like to say that I think it's excellent that you're taking the GW hobby and making it YOUR hobby. So, heap big props for that.

Just bear in mind how one change somewhere might affect the codex elsewhere.

I've argued for 50pt Wraiths with rending attacks in CC. Flayed ones I dunno about though, I suppose buying the some sort of upgrade I might be in favor of. Or maybe changing disruption fields in some way (I thought it would be interesting to have an attack that decreased enemies' armor saves by 1, so a 4+ would become a 5+, perhaps add that to disruption field), FOs should not be troops choices though, they belong as elites.

Considering that Wraiths both move as jetbikes AND ignore terrain completely, you have to be really carefull how you upgrade them.

I mean, that's why they cost so damn much in first place.

Personally, considering their high S and attacks, I think rending would be far too good for a 10 points increase (roughly). How about increasing max squad size to 5?

... but then again.. it doesn't justify the fluff does it....

Maybe rending isn't so bad actually?... heh heh.

Amen to that idea! My biggest deterrent from fielding wraiths that much is their unit size. When you can only have a few, it makes you much more worried about losing them. If one goes down, I start sweating...loose another, and it's pretty much a dead unit.

But, as said before, that would probably unbalance the army's power. Could you imagine fielding on the upwards of 10 wraith AND Destroyers? Or now think of having 15 wraith and a Destroyer Lord in a Fear Army! It would be crazy-fun to play, but probably not balanced at all.

Wraiths should really get some sort of fear ability over increased damage. Fluff-wise they are meant to come out of the woodworks and scare the life out of enemies WHILE ripping them into bits. Or maybe giving them hit-and-run would be best of all? not that i don't like the idea of having more wraiths or having them deal damage more efficiently but when considering the nature of the units as horrible ghosts sent to spread fear and confusion more subtle abilities would make sense.

Maybe giving flayed-ones fleet? since they're supposed to be very agile and quick, as far as Necrons go, would give them a little bit of speed which they normally lack.

Not a bad idea at all. makes infiltrate and even deepstrike worth it.

T'would probably need a point increase though.. maybe 20+...

5 points is far too cheap for a unit that moves quickly, has invulnerable power armour, rejenerates and comes with self sharpening kitchen knives.

@ Alzer

if the rumours are to believed, if they do get fleet then, it'll be different from forced marching.
