This was by far one of the models I have had the most fun painting. He needs a bit more touching up and a base, and is going to be a bit of a centerpiece for my Skaven army.
I like it a lot. I think it'd look even better with the toenails done up in a bone color to add some contrast and then I'd put some thin olive-green washes on parts of the staff to make it look woodsy and to reflect some of the other greens, but I'd keep them really subtle, really thinned out washes. And then I'd highlight the wood a bit more with some reddish oranges here and there to do the same as the wash. Bring out the red on the model and add some wood effects to the wood.
But honestly, it looks really nice. Thanks for sharing.
I added some details to the book, tried some lighting effects on the flail, and based him. With the exception of painting the rim of the base he is finished.
I agree with this statement, a simple sheet of white A4 paper behind it would make him stand out and look better. On the painting side, the book looks rather good. However, his flesh/fur I have found to be rather dull and blends too much with the red hood. I think perhaps a bit more highlighting - or even different colours - for that would improve his looks a lot. And the green glow I presume you are doing from the censor, it doesn't quite work in my opinion. Instead, it looks more like you've gone over the edges. I am not good at OSL, but, I think it should be paler or, if strong it should cast more of a light - on to the staff, hand, cloak of Skrolk himself.
I will try to find a more suitable background for the model, and I agree that the OSL doesn't look too good, I will either just remove it completely ot try something else to make it work.
One more thing, at my next warhammer night I may be able to convince one of my friends who is much better at photographing minis to take a picture of this for me.
