fighting against Zemaphores Space Wolves some time in the near future. for the occasion I made the following list.
HQ:
Lord: res orb, destroyer body and warsyth
to crack any dreadnoughts and other vehicles he might have after that mad CC! and Res orb coverage
Core:
2 x 10 warriors
just some nice Fire support core
Fast attack:
2 x 3 Destroyers
Long range Fire support and some more anti tank
3 Wraiths
there to protect the lord and ad nice 3+ Inv saves to randomised shooting.
Heavy support
Tombspider
main warriors and Destroyer support due to the 12" rule. will make a swarm and be annoying
Not to sure about his list yet I know he has some dreadnought some speeders and further some CC packs. so short some assault cannons a Melta and and lot's of powerfists and other powerweapons.
So what do you guys think got a chance? It's my first cron list since 5th edition.
Thanks for the welcome Alzer It has been a While I guess .
Yeah the list you suggested sounds like it would also work like a charm. Guess I will have to try that aswell. I liked the list I made for it's options to split firepower where it is needed. But I guess taking down 1 unit at a time will also work . need some proxying for both lists so guess I can try both and see where it leads me
Actually I can't find many flaws in your list. The single group of wraiths is questionable against marines. Although against marines I would suggest keeping the staff of light on your lord.
yeah that's eaxactly the part I was worried about. I don't want to let my lord run around the bord on his own so there for I gave him some body guards. the syth is there because I want to make sure I kill of the dreadnoughts and speeders Asap. And I don't know if he is fielding a chaplain or not in which case the extra ability of the syth comes in really handy. guess I could drop a destroyer unit with the wraiths and get a VoD lord and some Immortals? that brings me to the list Alzer suggested:
HQ:
Lord: res orb,VoD
the old poof and bang trick, has worked well for me in the past.
Elites:
10 Immortals
They are here to really bring the Bang to VoD. S5 Shooting and lot's of it
Core:
2 x 10 warriors
just some nice Fire support core
Fast attack:
3 x Swarms
tie up and annoy unit
Heavy support
2 x Tombspider
main warriors r support due to the 12" rule. will make a swarm and be annoying and hurt
I think your list seems a little too specialized. Definitely drop the Wraiths unless you plan on putting them with a Destroyer Lord and are facing something with a 4+ or worse armor save. (You'll hit a lot, they'll make a lot of saves, then wipe you out... There goes 123pts.)
The Flying Circus is tons of fun and can dish out obscene amounts of damage... Just be careful where you land.
If you're gonna take scarabs, don't do groups of less than 5 bases so you can tie up your opponents unit for at least a turn. Even though they have multiple wounds they can get SMASHED by power weapons and the like.
I've found that I do a lot better with Necrons when I sink a lot of points in 1 particular unit type... And with Marines that unit is usually Destroyers. They have the range and power to drop them and basically make a mess of things.
At 1000pts I'd go with something like this:
1 Lord w/ Orb, Scythe, Phylactery
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
(both in close proximity to the lord)
4 Destroyers
4 Destroyers
6 Scarabs (to hold off units advancing towards your frontline troops.
If you really want to make him cry, tool a monlith into the game.
I love dropping one of those onto the table for lower point games when he has only 2 things that have a chance at hurting it (the dread, which is still pretty hard to get the hit on it cause of the living metal), and the lascannon.
hahah as always moust of of the forse means zema's part. I'm bringing some of my necrons and some of my room mates but still need a lot of proxies for any list I play.
