Yes, I enjoy LotR and have heard rave review from most of the staff I have talked to about it. It appears to suit the way I play, and seems to suit a more flexible playstyle, which I have.
I'm not a LotR player but I got a chance to look at the WotR rule book today. It looks really good, full colour and nicely put together. Stand alone rulebook too, apparently and the LotR system is meant to be very good anyway.
Probably better off in the LotR forum, but my thoughts are that even if I still played LotR, I wouldn't bother with this. I always preferred games when they were no bigger than 500 points. As it was designed to be a skirmish game, that's how it should be run.
But then again, I suspect I'm taking too much of a traditional attitude to something which I don't even play anymore.
Short answer no, I'm a huge tolkien fan but am so tired of people over doing LoTR. But as soon as they release a war of the jewels or, I wish, a silmarillion based table top game I'm in!
Probably not for two reasons, it’s losing what makes the current LOTR a decent game (probably the best system GW run) and turning it into, basically, a version of WFB.
Second I play Grey Company and I’m planning on Isengard Raiders, neither army is really suited to War of the Ring.

Grey Company not suited to WOTR? Bows sound even dirtier than ever now, and they have LOTS! I've only recently started dabbling in LoTR and have some wood elves, some rangers and some dwarves and it looks like its gonna be a very powerful combo.
I suppose it could work if you used allies, but I don't, and I think Rangers on those stack bases.....well it just isn't Rangers really. Whilst the numbers you would need would probably also be un-Rangerish, they are really a small skirmish army designed for ambush, not large scale battles.
Why not, Memnoch, I feel this is being written off a little too easily.
I wrote off the LotR system a bit too easily when it first came out, and have only just realised how its actually played- now WotR is coming out I can see exactly the same thing happening and it getting completely discredited by those who know nothing about it.
Ive never played it but know a fair bit about it. I had considered buying the original Fellowship box set when it came out but the new plastic Chaos marines came out around the same time and I started my Chaos army instead. Im not writing it off-it does look cool but my gaming time is limited and I dont play in the local hobby store so my gaming is presently only in Omegokus house. So even if I did want to play it I would have to get together the money for something Id only use infrequently and then convince Omegoku to collect as well. And both our time and money is too scarce for it.
There is a difference between saying a games system doesn’t work and saying it isn’t for you. I know little about WFB, but I know enough to know it’s not my cup of tea. It just doesn’t do anything for me personally.
With WOR it might well be a great system but I don’t think it fits the army I play and it’s not really what I want from LOTR, I play LOTR because I like the current rules and because the armies are small. WOR seems to be taking away what I like about the game.
I demoed a game with it and I was surprised how good it was. I went in expecting it to be like WFB, and it was nothing like it at all. Considering I already have the models for a LoTR army I might as well get TWO good games out of it.
I must say, things die FAST. There is no more rolling to hit with bows, or rolling against each other for fight, just straight up rolling to wound. Bows are especially nasty, as every base they kill send the unit backwards, to represent them slowing down under the withering fire.
