Is the master of the forge going to be released in GW stores soon or is it just a normal techmarine with a servo harness that you have to convert your self to have a conversion beamer. Has anyone conerted one yet and can anyone give me tips on how to convert normal tecmarines into a conversion beamer master of the forge.

Would you just have the normal servo harness or the conversion beamer?

As far as I know there aren't even any rumours of a release yet, so as you say, currently your best bet is to convert one from an existing Techmarine in Servo-Harness.

As for the Servo Harness / Conversion Beamer debate... it depends on what army you are facing and what you want your Master of the Forge to do, really. I know that if I was giving him a Conversion Beamer I would probably mount him on a bike!

would you still be able to fix vehcles if taking the conversion beamer since it says in the codex that you replace the servo harness with it.

And also can you have a master of the forge only geared up with one servo arm. (this might be a stupid question).

he can still repair on a 5+, he just doesn't get the +1 to the roll bonus that the servo-harness grants.

and no, you can't just equip him with a single servo-arm, he comes with the harness standard and i think the conversion beam is the only way to replace it.

You can still repair vehicles without the servo-harness. The master of the Forge has the "Blessing of the Omnissiah" rule which allows him to repair vehicles. The only difference the servo-harness makes is that it modifies your result making it easier to repair vehicles.

Also, without the servo-harness, the Master of the Forge only has one servo arm. As for converting him, i would make a normal tech marine, and not glue on all of the stuff to his backpack. Only glue 1 arm. To represent the conversion beamer, you might want to give him a super fancy gun. As crispcarter said, i don't think GW has a master of the forge in the pipe just yet as he can be converted with reasonable ease from a tech marine.

I'm pretty sure the MotF with Conversion Beamer has NO Servo arms at all.
You pay for your shooty power with the loss of combat prowess.

I need to get my hands on a plastic plasma cannon so I can convert my MotF

If I do convert a Fennias Maxim (Ultramarines Master of the Forge) on foot with a Conversion Beamer, I plan to have it so that the Servo Harness is holding the gun instead of equipped with the usual claws/cutters etc.
I must get around to doing that actually.

Omegoku is correct, the MotF entry in the codex clearly states "replace servo-harness and servo-arm with conversion beamer +X points.

actually it just says that the servo harness is replaced by the beamer, but when the dex first came out, I aked on here and it was interpreted that the servo harness replaces a servo arm with a pair, so if you take off the harness, you lose both servo arms.
