Guardsman Marbo is a veritable steal an his points cost. Being able to pop up wherever you want and sling a demo charge makes him an instant game-turner. For the price you can afford for him to have a bad game most of the time yet more often than not he won't. His mastery of camoflague means that when he does appear he becomes a stubborn stain that even "Vanish" would have trouble removing from the picture. His lack of armour can make him vulnerable though, and in CC he is ill equipped to deal with well armoured troops, despite his numerous attacks.

So, how do you use this pocket rcket? What memorable games have you had involving him? Has he lived up to his cinematic ideology? Discuss.

in the week-end game, I pop marbo right in front of a horde of gaunts, hormagaunts and a prince. The demo charge wiped off a big deal of the beasties, then having marbo in the way forced them to move around ( the guy was placed in a corridor, thus blocking the way) or engage in CC. All in all, That was one turn more for my other guards to focus on delivering heavy fire. As a bonus, marbo took out 2 wounds from the prince, that alone was worth it!

Right now I´m really loking forward to field him in future. I only have to decide what he will look like. I´m going to mix Cadian and Catachan parts, but there are so many posibilities... And I have to finish my power lant first.
So I would be happy if we you could post some portraits of your Marbo here. Nowadays magazines without shiny photos don´t work anyway;)

I've had alot of fun with this fella and he really is a steal for his points. I don't think i've ever had a game where he's survived though so in Kill Point games he's a bit of a Handicap. Other than that he's always made his points back. In one game he took out an entire unit of Black Templars.

For my fella i've converted a little Assassin rather than go for a Guardsmen.

I run Marbo in my 1500 list, he's deadly teaming up with a Callidus Assassin for double the "deep strike but not deep strike" shenanigans. He takes out units with the demo charge, she takes out HQ's with the phase sword or shredder and Weaken Resolve. If Marbo comes on before her, I can use weaken resolve with his demo charge to force a squad to retreat. With BS5, the demo charge only scatters 2" on average if you roll a miss.

I still haven't decided on a model, so for now I'm proxying with an Eversor Assassin until I figure out what to do. I don't have any real Catachan bits, so that limits me a little. Maybe I'll pick up a box or try to somehow make use of the Catachan bits from the sentinel kit.

Sasha your Marbo is almost identical to mine, except I used the barrel of the command squad sniper rifle. But what head did you use?

Borak, thats a very cool looking mini, but I think the big sword looks a touch too eldar-y and maybe a bit to un-human, he's still just a guardsman.

Looks cool sasha, I used the heavy weapon sight as well.

In terms of tactics with marbo I think it's quite straight forward, appear demo die/hide. I would say I think he's a touch over powered for his cost, pretty much a guarenteed demo any where on the table. He's a bit of fun but not a constant feature in all lists

Well marbo has an unbeleivable ability to drop that demo charge riht where it needs to be.

Lets do some math hammer

33% chance of a hit on the scatter dice
1.8% chance of rolling a 2 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
3.6% chance of rolling a 3 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
5.5% chance of rolling a 4 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
7.4% chance of rolling a 5 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
9.3% chance of rolling a 6 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
11.1% chance of rolling a 7 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
9.3% chance of rolling an 8 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
7.4% chance of rolling a 9 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
5.5% chance of rolling a 10 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
3.6% chance of rolling a 11 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die
1.8% chance of rolling a 2 on the scatter distance and an arrow on the scatter die

Subsitiute in Marbos BS

51.3% chance of a direct hit
9.3% chance of a 1-inch scatter
11.1% chance of a 2-inch scatter
9.3% chance of a 3-inch scatter
7.4% chance of a 4-inch scatter
5.5% chance of a 5-inch scatter
3.6% chance of a 6-inch scatter
1.8% chance of a 8-inch scatter

So over 50% of the time Marbo will throw the charge directly at his target, and even a 3" scatter will end up in the explosion clipping the target models base (assuming the target model has a normal 1-inch round base.
