I just thought of this list, and although it would probably be rather boring to play i was just wondering if anyone thought it might actually be effective. I'm geussing not because as the title suggests, I don't think it would be much good at pushing up the board.

Anyways, heres the list.

HQ

2 x Lord with res orb

Troops

2 x 20 Warriors

Heavy Support

2 x Monolith

Tactics are quite simple, form the warriors up with a lord in each, one monolith behind each squad. Squads shoot, take casualties, depending on how many they either go through monolith to save as many as possible, or the monolith shoots... Rinse and repeat.

never run warriors in units larger then 10-12

This is what i suggest for the list

1x Lord with Orb

3x10 Warriors

7 Destroyers

2 Monoliths

This works great and is my main list. Out the two Monoliths side by side making a wall and put all of the warriors with the lord behind the monoliths. Then put the Destroyers on each side of the Mono-Wall. Now you can slowly advance your wall while keeping the warriors protected until you get into range for the warriors which will just teleport to the front. The Monoliths will just hurl Particle Whips and priority targets while the Destroyers protect the warriors from things going around the wall

Your warriors are foot-sloggers and your monoliths are too slow to relocate the warriors more than once. So dedicated close combat units will make it into combat with your warriors, especially since you have little firepower to stop them. Get one unit sweeped and the other shot a little and it's over. This list is very vulnerable.

You're also lack in anti tank.
Your only things that can take out armor is the partical whip or relying on the gauss getting enough weapons destroyed to crack open that armor.

The first list suggested kinda ignores the whole point. I know how to make a decent necron list (although most people probably won't agree with me, bacuse I often don't use destroyers, and when i do it isn't many, but I've had very few losses over the years)

Necrons in larger squads do work, although admitadly possibly not 20.

I know one sweeping advance and it's pretty much all over, but each squad has only got to make it through 1 round of combat before it can recoup 75% of it's losses and blast them afresh.

And I've never needed dedicated anti tank in a necron army before, massed gauss fire has taken down many mechanised lists.

Either way I'm not going to try and argue it's effectiveness, because I know it won't be effective, just kinda amusing.

If you happen to go up against an opponent with no real crowd control ability or decent CC units, it will be very amusing indeed. There's nothing more amusing than seeing them make a disgusted look on their face every time a necron succeeds in a WBB or they fail to scratch the monolith.

Wouldn't recommend the list for competitions but its good for screwing around.

Other than the destroyers, I think its range that's the real problem. Unless your teleporting onwards, then that's fine.

With the exception of destroyers, nothing in the list is going to be able to shoot further than 24" at a maximum. Anti-tank is still there though you often need luck with the lesser necrons.

Still, I would not recommend this as a competitive list.

But then you're missing the point. The fun thing is to have two monolith-backed up separate phalanxes.

The only thing I would fear, as some people already has pointed out, is sweeping advance killing half your force. I think you would prefer the survivability and freedom of 4X 10 warriors opposed to 2X20.

But by all means, try it out and give us a battlereport. Maybe the two extra killpoints actually made a difference.

It's never intended to be competative, although I do disagree with the fact that you need dessys to have a competative cron list, but I think that's just me.

I was thinking just 2 squads rather than 4, so then each has it's own personal lith, and can always use it for extra WWB or getting out of combat if needed.

It's only really intended as a laugh against a tau army or something, have them destroy 32 warriors (16 from each sqaud) in a turn of shooting (just an easy number), then look at their face as 24 of them pop back up.

Sorry about that, I've got a serious campaign tomorrow (we've even made our own little trophy of space marines legs with smoke rising from it ) and I'm stuck with competitive thoughts.

Since this is a fun list, just go for whatever you feel like and observe the twisted faces that the opponent makes.
