Hi I don't know if this topic has come up yet but on GW website Heavy Destroyers are no longer being sold from the online store. This hopefully is the same thing that happened with the Nids, a new codex is on the horizon!
ed. Sorry about the triple post i have no idea how it happened my computer glitched when i started the thread
hahaha damn, if this is news for a new codex i bought mine just too soon. Got my codex about 3 months ago, never thought the update would be coming so soon haha
Bit too early to assume we're getting anything new right now, seeing as the site's been acting weird lately (duplicate choices, things disappearing then reappearing in the wrong section...). However, what does get to me is how the "second" Necron Codex has a different info text than the first one.
This is also true, I called today to see if I could get some missing bases sent (3rd box to have missing bases in the past 2 weeks, what's going on GW?!?) and the guy said that my order would have to wait a while why they fix there systems. So it could just be there entire system is going whacky and not just the behind the scenes stuff
They are still listed with a price (in the planetstrike section) so they are still available. When the SoB boxes were taken down the links had 'no longer available' or something to that effect for some time before the page was removed.
Take it from me, the Rumors master. With the release of Daemons, there will most likely be a three-four month interval between 40K releases. However this does not justify Fantasy. So the lookout for the next 6-8 months looks like the following:
Daemons: July-August
Dark Eldar: September-November
OR
Tomb Kings: September-December
A Marine Chapter ( Unknown, could possibly be Codex: Space Marines itself ) December-February
OR Necrons: January-March
This is what is buzzing around the webs, and this is justified, as there is usually a balance of Fantasy to 40K, and Marines never go more than two other updates before they get a new one.
This, combined with the fact that their website is acting strange, could mean that the second product code for codex is actually for the new codex... and it wasn't supposed to come out on the "open" website. The picture and text are still obviously placeholders.
The Havies being gone might be just a glitch, or storage running out of the heavies metal parts... in which case it would be logical for them to take the product off-line for a few months.

It's definately a sign. Ether if it's a website error or if something is planned for the Necrons, we can still comfirm the fact that we WILL be back at one point. After all, We can comfirm that we expect the Necron codex update to happen sometime in the beginning of 2011 or near the end of 2010, it just seems too good to be true if this was a sign of an update for us coming soon...
That would be nice if they we're another troops choice.
IDK if anyone noticed, but the Skyray Missile ship for Tau is gone too. If you search for it, it shows up, but if you click it, it leads to the 40K main page....
I read an article online that said that "rumour has it" Games workshop was about to make a risky investment into the Necron army by adding new models and a Codex some time around January or February. It went on to say that the Necrons were a bad selling army and they hope to put enough of an investment into it to make it viable. I found the article months ago when I was looking for cool Necron painting schemes. Hey, rumour has it that Godzilla really exists so take what you will from it.
Its not supprising when they such rich fluff but when the re released them in 2002 (or when ever). They only did a hand full of units and a single troops choice. There wasnt much in way of marketing ether. When you compear them to Tau who where a massive success its easy to see reasons why.
I would agree most rumours say early 2011 so fingers are still crossed (which will make typing hard for about 5 months).
Anyone reading this should Google "Necron rumors". There is a ton of stuff on what people who claim to be close to GWS are saying about the changes. I hope a lot of them are right!
Although it doesn't sound too promising at the moment, look at it this way: If the heavies have actualy deliberately been removed from the site prior to the new release, then I'd quite happily bet GW are looking at moving destroyers and heavies into the same box (maybe even the same codex entry too, with heavies being an upgrade for regs?)
That would quite likely mean plastic Hvy gauss cannons too
