A plethora of questions

Since I am positive this forum loves answering questions, without further ado:

1) This comes from our good newly-decked out friends, the DE, but also applies to eldar and IG. Since these armies have skimmers as their vehicles (mostly DE here), what should the piranhas block or should they even be blocking in this style of game?

2)I seem to be a crazy player. I actually like both fire warriors and kroot, so I actually have more than just 6 FWs. My question here is should I get DF for each FW unit, or just have some with and some without?

3)I've noticed that number6 doesn't seem to include flachette dischargers on his piranhas ( I say his name specifically b/c he seems to post the most on tactics about them). Is it truly apt to never put this upgrade on, or could it see some light, especially against orks (since I want to laugh and say "all your warriors take a wound on 4+ and you only hit on 6s)?

4)anyone have a way to convert carbine warriors into pathfinders?

5) is it better to take two HH, two broadsides, or a skyray? (edit here, I already have a broadside team and a hammerhead already, trying to figure out the third slot)

That should be enough for now

1.) I dont know having not been able to play against them yet, I would assume anything that looks eager to get into CC with your army.
2.) I personally just use the DF from my pathfinder's. I would guess in larger point games protecting your FW is mandatory so base your loadout according to the points limit of your game vs the type and your opponent (if able).
3.) Vs ork, nid, and maybe IG armys they can be quite nice. Base it on what your bringing to the fight and make sure not to neglect any important choices.
4.) Take some Fire Warrior's leave the shoulderpad off and maybe file the hip guards off, equip them with Pulse Carbines.
5.) Again It'll depend on what your up against but I'd say take another HH.

The Skyray is not as shabby as people say. Look into it's rules and consider it.

More broadsides are always good.

Hammerheads are the best adaptable choice. Mobility and railgun = win.

Personally I only take 2 Heavy Support choices myself. A 2 man Broadside team, and a Hammerhead. The points I save give me 15 Crisis Suits, and they keep the enemy attention enough that my Hammerheads and Broadsides rarely get killed or even fired at.

crazy as it may seem, I don't particularly like crisis suits. Granted I haven't played long, but they just haven't "suited" my playing style

Another question: I have 20 kroot models, should I leave them as one large unit, or should I separate it into 2 10 man units and maybe get some hounds?

They will still be blocking. But unlike land raiders or rhinos or chimeras, you can't just shove them an inch or two away and expect that to work. Instead, park them somewhere around 8" away so they can't take more than a 6" move and still fire weapons. Block open spaces this way, leaving only area terrain -- dangerous for all vehicles, including skimmers, of course -- available as landing spots in that sweet spot of 6" - 12" movement.

The point is to delay, still useful even if you can't outright stop a vehicle "in its tracks". You also want to make a target out of your piranha so it gets targeted with shots instead of your other assets.

You are crazy! :rotfl: Don't take more than 1 or 2 units of just 6 FWs each. ;)

A devilfish for every fire warrior unit. No exceptions.

I do use flechettes, just not in every list. I absolutely think they're valuable in all-comers lists. If you feel you have the points to spare on them, go for it! I sometimes feel like the points I could put into flechettes have better uses on other stuff. But not always. Depends on the list. YMMV.

Most people just leave off the FW shoulder pad and call it a day. Mounting some kind of doohicky on the carbine to represent the markerlight would be an improvement, but most people don't bother and I've never heard anyone cry about it.

Take either 1 HH and 2 XV88 or 1 XV88 and 2 HH. Either is fine. (FWIW, I typically run 2 HH and 1 XV88. YMMV.) But ditch the skyray. It's not good enough to replace either hammerheads or broadsides.

Always run them 2x 10 instead of 1x 20. More flexibility and resilience. Adding hounds to each unit would be even better; very strongly recommended.

1. not entirely sure, i'm not the guy to ask rules questions
2. your not alone, I do to but yes, if it has a pulse rifle it belongs in a d-fish
3. I normally don't take them on anything except my HHs but when i do have the points my vehicles are equipped with them
4. just take a carbine FW and take the shoulder pad off....done
5. mine work out 2 HHs and 1 squad of 2 XV88s
