Cauldron of Blood

So quick rules question for you Dark Elf players. The cauldrons' FAQ says: : The Cauldron receives two attacks for each Hag Attendant, and three attacks for the Death Hag, instead of one attack per crew model as would normally be the case for a war machine. Add +1 to the number of attacks received by each crew model as long as they are Frenzied.

Now, does this mean that you ignore the fact that they have 2 hand weapons? From the sounds of things, I would say yes. My argument here is similar to how supporting attacks only get 1 attack regardless of their profile or their equipment, so its as if the rule is setting their attacks at 2 (3 with frenzy) and that's that.

Thoughts?

Gedderz you might be right. Although.....the equipment section for the CoB entry isn't covered by the FAQ, and in the equipment section of the AB it states "two hand weapons". So, logically, the crew may still have two hand weapons, as it wasn't mentioned as a rule change in the FAQ. It's one of those things where it can be argued either way. Personally, I'd argue that the Hag Attendants have two hand weapons for two reasons: 1) It isn't mentioned in the FAQ so remains unchanged in the AB. 2) Every other Witch Elf in the army has two hand weapons.

Also, when it says you get 2 for the Hag Attendants and 3 for the Death Hag instead of the usual 1 for crew, thats the profile attacks. All other war machine crews have 1 attack on profile.

I would argue that just because it doesn't have an equipment section doesn't mean its not replaced, perhaps they intended to have the caldron with no equipment. Trust me i wish they had hand weapons been someone who uses his cauldron frequently would be nice for more chances at poison or just more attacks. So if im proven wrong will be happy ;)

I would avoid comparing with other units because this is where a number of rules errors come up.

I didn't mean to compare units, I just mentioned it as 2 hand weapons is kind of a running idea with Witch Elves.

Discussed this with the guys at the local GW, they all agree with the Cauldron with 2HW. Althoguh at the end of the days, its your personal call. Hahaha.

I agree that all "hags" have 2HW. Combine that with frenzy and your opponent will have to think twice if he thinks he is going to run over them like other war-machines. Remember the death hag is a hero with 2 bodyguards so having that many attacks should not raise too many eyebrows.

Forgot to mention, the Death Hag has 2 hand weapons in her slot in the Heroes section of the army book, with the Cauldron being an upgrade. So then it comes down to whether or not the Hag Attendants have two Hand Weapons. In the previous army book they had two hand weapons, in the current army book they have 2 hand weapons, the models have 2 hand weapons, the recurring theme of Witch Elves is 2 hand weapons, the equipment section isn't mentioned in the FAQ, logically if something isn't in the FAQ it remains unchanged, so therefore the equipment section remains unchanged, ergo the Attendants have 2 hand weapons. Simple enough?
