Rough 2500 list and new to army questions

Hello to all.*

So far I've played two games with the wood elves against ogres and high elves which ended in a win and a draw.*

My list was roughly this to the games

spell weaver lv4 *wotwe

Lord wt the sniper bow and the sniper spites.*

Branch wraith with radients

12 glade guard
12 glade guard
12 dryads
12 dryads
6 glade guard

4 treekin
4 treekin
7 war dancers*

2 treemen

Ive got a few questions that hopefully a few of you more experienced players have some advice on.*

I have 2 units of 4 treekin in my list from the two previus games and I've read that a unit of six seems to be better, when in a unit of six is it better to have them in two ranks or six in a line?

Characters are a bit of a head ache for me, *the level 4 lord with the dispell reroll item seems pretty good so far.*

But with the fighty characters I'm not so sure. *Are the better builds the ones with the magic bows? Giving them Armour and a sword to me seems doable but it's what unit to put him in to get to combat.*

On magic, I've only tried the life lore and the wood elves own lore but they both seem reliant on rolling setting spells to be a real help. Are there armies that use beasts regularly and feel its better than the other two?

I'm open to suggestions on changing my list if any of you think it could be doing with some alterations.*

Thanks.*

I frequently finding myself using Beasts over Life, actually. Using Wildform on a unit of Dryads, Treekin, or even a large block of Glade guard really turns their power up. A unit of 27+ Glade Guard with a Level 4 Beastweaver holding a Rhymer's Harp+Dispel Scroll has been finding a steady place in my lists recently. The whole unit has a 5+ Ward save along with S/T4 with WildForm on. Put a BSB in there and cast the upgraded version of Savage Beast and both the caster and the BSB get +3 S and Attacks. Beasts is more about Changing how your opponent has to deal with your army, where as Life is about a war of attrition. Both work very well, but usually require slight variances in lists.

As for your army list, Lord characters are somewhat fading by the wayside due to the importance and efficiency of magic. The sniper lord isnt' as good as was, though it can still be powerful and useful for picking off weaker mages, but with only 1 shot or two at very close range, it might take a few turns to drop a 2-3 wound model that might even cost less than the character itself. It can be useful for picking off champions, however. Another, and probably the favored, Highborn build is Bow of Loren and Arcane Bodkins, which gives you plenty of shots that ignore armor. Put him on an eagle and you've got a decent hunter/harasser, but do note that it cuts into your lord choices. The biggest reason you rarely see highborn is because the points are usually better spent on a Weaver+Treeman Ancient.

Your treekin are honestly better served in one block of 8 (4x2), which gives you two bonuses. The first is an extra bit of CR, which helps because you are going to need it. The second means you can cause disruption and if you find yourself in a position to flank with your trees, you'll be glade you have that rank because you just ruined someone's day.

personally i really like the idea of the beastweaver with harp and scroll but your facing ogres and high elves so for high elves i would stick to wand of wych elm and go for rhymers harp against ogres as for life or beasts both work well although life has more remains in play spells wich can be dispelled with power dice beasts only has one remain in play transformation of kadon and you dont need to use it i think ogres would be more likely to spend power dice on removing remains in play spells where as elves wont waiste the PD so i would lean towards beasts for ogres and life for high elves just a thawt.
