The base is coverd in sand and I have at my disposal grass and many colours.
So could you explain in simple and basic steps How to make a good base out of this?As my own way just makes it look ugly.
And if it helps, the background on my army is that they fight on a forest heavy world.
hello, so far youve got the right idea. What you need to do is paint the sand with a dark brown color. once that has dried, mix half and half of that same dark brown and a bone color (bleached bone made by citadel) and drybrush the base with it.(drybrushing involves putting very little paint on the brush and painting over the raised areas.) Once you do this, take the bone color and do another drybrush over the base. Once youve done this, you can work on grasses mosses etc. Simply get some glue (i use super glue gel) and put little beads of it on the base wherever you want. U can drag the glue on the base to make a larger or longer patch of glue. After this, get the static grass or moss and dump some of it on the base and then tip the model over with the bag of static grass underneath it. (just like putting glitter on paper) Hope this helps
I base after the model is done. I put a few drops of glue on the base and spread it with a toothpick until it coats the whole base. Then, I hold the model over a plate and sprinkle some rock flock over it. I don't cover the whole thing, just so there are a few patches. Then I cover the whole base in grass flock. I shake off the excess and viola, a grassy, rocky base. I generally don't bother with painting base flock since there are a pretty wide range of colored flock that you can pick up an any hobby/craft store. The GW line only has green flock, sand, rocks/sand, and static grass.
For a forest terrain, what might look kind of nice is a sanded base on the unpainted model if you spray black or spray white then paint the sand black. Once that is done, do a heavy overbrush of Scorched Brown, followed by light drybruch of Bestial Brown, then add the static grass, and finally paint the base's rim some sort of darker green.
Originally posted by chaos lord92@Nov 21 2004, 18:39 so many spelling mistakes it,s a new record for me 1 paint black 2 into small bits 3 mix with sand andglue
1. basecout the base with a dark brown.
2. add a 50/50 color of that mixed with white or bone colors.
3. add large rocks(roughly 4x the size of the ones used to sand)
4. then add static grass in between the rocks.
5. add some flock onto the large rocks to resemble moss, lichen, etc.
6. you then could add such things as bushes made out of sponge, or even heads
heads of fallen foes with worms(made out of scaven tails) through the eyes and
mouths.
