Ok, I have always liked Iron Warriors (primarily because of their multiple oblitorator cults). Anyway, here is a little army list I have compiled:

HQ
Chaos Lord with Mark of Undivided, combi-bolter, power weapon, bionics, demonic resiliance, siege specialists=98pts

Elites
Obliterator Cult (3)=210pts
Obliterator Cult (2)=140pts

Troops
Chaos Space Marines 8 with bolter and ccw, 1 with autocannon, 1 with plasma gun, aspiring champion with combi-bolter, all with mark of chaos undivided=201pts

Chaos Space Marines same as above=201pts

Heavy Support
Vindicator with mutated hull=150pts

So what do you think? All input welcome!

Oblits are nice, but they cost a lot. I usually don't see more than 3 in 1500 points. Soley because when they die, its a big point sink.

Maybe drop 2 oblits for a predator so you have something tough to shoot from far as your vindicator moves up.

The troops look fine, I like missiles better than autocannons but its up to your own tastes.

I'd drop seige specialist on your lord, really isn't doing much.

Siege Specialists comes free with all Iron Warriors units, BK.

Anyways.

Your Lord is pretty good, especially since you seem to be aiming for a cheap one. I personally ususally give my IW Lords Terminator Armour, but that's personal preference.

I agree with BK about the Obliterators. However, rather then making 1 unit of 3, make 3 units of one. That way, the unit is either a scoring unit or not, and they can all roam freely, since you aren't taking up any other Elites slots.

I don't find Reaper Autocannons to be terribly effective in line squads. You should switch it to a Missile Launcher instead.

Finally, a Predator would do quite well in this army. I'd field a Predator with a TL Lascannon, Sponson Heavy Bolters and Mutated Hull, and downgrade the Vindicator to Deamonic Possession.

I blame my minor lapse in chaos knowledge to this oh so yummy rum and coke #4.

I didn't because its only 1000 points. If I do go along with this army then I will upgrade him from power armour later on.

I guess you're right. I got a little carried away with these guys.

1. I don't think that they are Reapers
2. You're right, missile launchers would be a more versatile weapons.

I was thinking of making it parasitic possession because it absolutely needs to be able to fire its demolisher and it needs to move to get close. And with parasitic posession, it can reapair the two results that would prevent it from doing these things. Although, it may not need to move much as I will primarily face tyranids and GK.

Anyway, thanks for the input and keep it coming as I tailor my list.

Quite good, i would try to fit in a kai gun. It will help alot to support your troops. Bionics is quite useless, but if u have the points why not. Still i would look into getting deamonic aura, a invonerable save is quite usefull.

Personally as a fellow iron warrior player i suggest taking 3 obliterators each in there own squad. So thats 3 squads of 1. It makes them much more versitiel, and they last longer.

Alright....I think this squad is quite good for tyranid killing. But u really should try getting a power fist on the aspiring champion. It will really help if the enemy does make it up and assualts you. Ether a power fist or a kai gun, both work quite good - depends on what your points are like.

Same as the one above

Alright.... i have played this beast many time and it never seems to do anything... and usually dies on the first turn. I would look into a defiler or bassy, personally i would recomment a defiler. Yes it is more expencive but its not open top, it has some sort of close combat power, and it has two ther guns besides the battle cannon that are not bad for close in fighting (ie. the heavy flamer and reaper autocannon before charging in)
If you dont like the defiler idea, i would go for a dread with a plasma cannon and a close combat arm. It will really help you hold your ground when the enemy getts in close. And the plasma cannon is good for blasting away chunks of squads.

Ok, first of all, I have switched out the autocannons for MLs, made the obliterators three squads of one, gave the vindicator parasitic posession, and added a pred with TLLC, heavy bolter sponsons, and parasitic posession. Second, before I respond to PUR1F1ER's post I wouls like to say that the two enemies I will be fighting most will be Tyranids and GK. Now on the responding.

Ok, I know that kai guns and invul saves are good and I will definitely put them in 1500 or 1250 points but not at this level.

Sorry for not keeping the list updated. I have already done this

Ok, I was going for nid killers. Anyway, a powerfist is my #1 priorety for both squads once I up the points value.

I was thinking about defiler when I noticed that the demolisher cannon will disintegrate pretty much any little nid or and GK unit that comes into range. And, both units are gonna want to come into range to get the to rest of the army. Defilers are definitely high up on my to get list later on though.

Great input people! Keep it up!
