command sqd/terminator command sqd and HQ's

re-read my codex and noticed a few things that i'd obviously missed priviously.

just need confirmation on my interpretation: page 21 of the sm codex- a master, a librarian, a chaplin and a command sqd can all be taken as 1 HQ choice?

it specifies 'command sqd' but is this legal with a terminator command sqd? i know it dosent say'terminator command sqd'; but it also dosn't list term command in the units that can take a drop pod and in the list entries for the hq choices it says ' command sqd: may take command sqd or term command sqd...' and the list entry for terminator command sqd says '...attached charcters..' as does the info for lysander (who can only lead a terminator command sqd) so am i correct in asuming that in this instance (on page 21) that where it says command sqd it refers to both terminator and power armerd sqds?

so if my reading of the above were correct you could field a master, a librarian and a chaplin all in terminator armer with a 10 strong terminator command sqd and they would count as 1hq choice. which would mean you could also take a further IC and attach them to the sqd(but not off table).

so what do you think: 1, is this a correct interpretation? and 2, is this a good idea?(obviously only in high pionts games)

depending on consensus i am tempted to try this so any opinions, comments or accusations af herasey or feeble mindedness most welcome.:)

Yes, everything you just went over is perfectly legal. In addition though, if you read it out what it says is that you can add chaplins or librariens to squads, but not commanders. You can also attach to any HQ squad. So, you could have a librarien lead a squad, and attach 2 more librariens to it. Or any conbination of chaplains and librariens. However, you may not add commanders, so if you want one, he needs to be the original squad leader.

How effective it is? Well, probably not very. The squad will be worth a rediculous ammount of points and has been pointed out, could be wiped out very easilly. Im sure it would be effective, but isnt worth the risk. Maybe 2, a chap and a lib, both lightly equipped.

I'm pretty sure you can only attach one of each type so you can't attach 2 extra Librarians to a Command Squad without one of them being a separate HQ and joining the Command Squad in-game.

thanks for your reponse.

i was also under the impression that you could only use one of each type but i haven't re checked the codex as yet.

not sure if i'll try this; altough i do have some 3k games vs Necrons coming up, if i do and it proves effective i will be sure to post.

thanks.

Only one character of a given type may be attached to a single command squad
Is this the source of the discrepency?
If so it is quite clear. You may have 1 character leading the squad (which may be any of the three IC HQ options), and 0-1 Chaplain and 0-1 Librarian. This allows you to take 2 chaplains or librarians, but not three.

Oops, my bad, wasnt looking at my codex when I wrote that.

2 of the same type. So 1 chap and 2 libs is still a viable option.
