Which version of games-workshop is the most popular in your area? is LoTR at all popular? does anyone have any official statistics for which one sells the best?
I was going to ask which army is the most popular but thats been posted a lot.
in the sydney battle bunker (australia) there is a balance between 40k and fantasy players. Whilst 40k seems to be slightly ahead. LOTR in my area, is usually played by 10-14 year olds, but other than that there isnt much interest in them.
I havnt been in a GW store for bout 2 years now but weant for 2 or 3 hours every saterday plus thursday night for about 3 years. I never seen a single game of fantasy
In my area WHBF is more popular, warhammer 40K is sadly despised over here. I already made a space marine army, and no one wants to play because they are afraid of change, my friend just started collecting Tau, so its a start for one thing !
WH40K is extremly popular, WHFB not sooo much... but lotr? The minis are nice, but thats about it. I stopped reading white dwarf magazine once they started putting in tooo much of the lotr stuff. Although, it is a good hook for the movie fans into WHFB!
40k is dominant here. We have a few people playing WHFB, but not nearly as many.
LotR is only liked at all by the staff at GW, who insist the Price Hikes have been because of other reasons, and not the fact that LotR sucks. No-one ever plays it. In fact...we have more games of stuff like Inquisitor/Necromunder than we do LotR. :\
I've seen this 12 year old, with his mom walk right into our local gaming store, and bought $250 worth LOTR minatures and books. He came back a month later to play someone, and no one played him.
i cant remember where it was posted, i think it was part of the Games-workshop sales release.
basically 40k is twice as popular as fantasy. had something like 60% of GW its sales came from 40k.
ill try to find the page but it was a while ago....
